Set in the Maze Runner au
———
The wind blew her dark raven hair, her beautiful blue eyes sparkling with delight as she ran towards him. Faint sounds of the gladers could be heard in the distance, the maze closing behind him as he silently watched her approach. She was mesmerising.

She quickly flung herself into his arms, her face buried into his chest as her hand clutched his shirt. He froze, feeling her small body pressed against his as he instinctively wrapped his strong arms around her small waist.

"I'm so glad your not dead...." She whispered, softly as she burrowed into his warmth. Her body relaxed into his warm arms, feeling relief spread through her chest.

"I'm not going anywhere...." He muttered, quietly as he buried his face into her soft raven hair. The faint scent of lavender and grass washed over him, he didn't know she was that worried about him as he felt his body relax in her presence.

Teresa meekly nodded as she nuzzled her head into the crook of his neck. His large hand softly stroked her dark raven hair, trying to soothe her as he breathed in her calming scent. He knew they took longer in the maze than usual before Minho left for the mapping hut.

Comfortable silence filled the air, ignoring their surroundings as they stayed wrapped up in each other's arms. It was just them.

"What do you think your doing, greenie? Putting our home in danger!" Gally yelled, angrily as he broke the silence and walked towards them. He watched the two turn their heads to him, impatiently as he sneered at Thomas.

"At least he's doing something, Gally. He's not a coward like you." Teresa responded, quietly as she protectively defended Thomas. She knew they didn't belong here, something was out there beyond the maze.

"I'm not talking to you! And don't call me a coward, you stupid girl!" Gally shouted, angrily as he glared at Teresa. He knew the only girl in the glade and their newest runner were connected, making him more suspicious.

"Don't call her that." Thomas spoke, coldly as he stared at Gally with darkened brown eyes. He protectively tightened his hold on her small waist, keeping her close to him.

"Do you have any idea what's going on? You're going to destroy the glade!" Gally shouted, angrily as he stared at Thomas.
"I'd rather go out there than be trapped in here forever." Thomas responded, determinedly as he watched Gally gritting his teeth in frustration. There was a way out and all he had to do was find it somehow.

"We can't stay here forever, Gally. You need to face the truth." Teresa spoke, quietly as she slowly shifted out of Thomas's arms. She glanced at Thomas, noticing the small grateful smile on his face as she stood next to him.

"Did I ask for your opinion? Your just like the greenie! I think the slammer would do you some good!" Gally yelled, angrily as he stepped forward and grabbed her arm.
He had enough of these lies, now finding the girl a threat to their home just as much as Thomas. His hard grip clutched her arm as she was harshly tugged towards him and whimpered in pain.

A firm hand suddenly grabbed Gally's arm stopping him from pulling Teresa any closer as Thomas glared at him. His jaw clenched, noticing the pained look on her angelic face because of Gally. He didn't mind whenever Gally tried anything with him but hurting Teresa was another story.

"Touch her again and I'll break your arm." Thomas threatened, angrily as he stepped forward. He tightened his hold on Gally's arm, causing Gally to groan painfully as Gally released his hold on a frightened Teresa.

"Tommy, calm down. Let him go." Newt spoke in a rush, placing his hand on Thomas's shoulder as he saw what just happened. He heard the snippets of the conversation from afar, only to run in their direction when he saw Thomas and Gally fighting again.

Thomas breathed in deeply, gritting his teeth as he held his anger back and slowly released Gally. He couldn't stand the thought of Teresa hurt because of him.

"I think you need to go, Gally." Newt spoke, irritated as he started dragging Gally away.  It was true he didn't like the way Gally handled things sometimes but hurting a girl was crossing the line. Never hurt another glader and Teresa was one of them now which meant Gally had to be punished and brought to Minho.

Teresa stood motionlessly, her arm slightly hurting as she tried to calm her racing pulse. She noticed Thomas looking at her as he silently checked to see if she was hurt then his brown eyes captured hers with such an intensity that she couldn't look away.

"You ok, Teresa?" Thomas muttered under his breath as he walked towards her and softly touched her arm. His gaze was fixated where Gally had grabbed her.

"I'm fine, Tom. My arm just hurts a little...." She whispered, softly as she leaned into his calming touch. The feeling of safety always washed over when she was with him. His brown eyes quickly darkened, processing her words as he glanced at her arm before gently lifting her sleeve. Her soft skin was slightly pink.

"It's nothing, Tom. I'm ok." Teresa muttered, quietly as she noticed his angry expression and pushed a strand of his hair from his forehead. Her fingers lightly caressed his temple as she felt him slowly calm down and lean into her touch.
"You know, you're like my knight in shining armour."

He chuckled at her words, his fingers gently twirling a strand of her soft raven hair as the atmosphere became lighter again.
"Which I appreciate but I'm a big girl, Tom." She spoke, playfully as she fondly smiled at him.

"I know...." He responded, softly as he watched the hair strand slip between his fingers. The memory of her act of self-defence against Jeff when she first arrived still brought an amused smile on his face. He didn't mind being her shield every once in a while.
