Set after the Death Cure au
————
It was like she was seeing herself lying on the bed, trapped in an endless sleep and stood silently in the middle of the Med-jacks hut. He was visiting her again today, his brown eyes held a empty look as she watched him gently entwine their hands together. He looked broken.

"Ain't that a sight?" A voice spoke with a familiar british accent, causing her to straighten herself up and glance at her amused companion. Newt. He was just like her, a ghost yet her heart was still beating and pulsing.

Tears glistened in her blue eyes as she watched the boy she loved stroke her dark raven hair then caressing her face with a soft glimmer in his brown eyes. It was the only time his eyes held some warmth, remembering the empty look he always had before and after his daily visits.

"Aren't you going to go back, Teresa?" Newt spoke, quietly as he and Teresa watched Thomas talk about his day to a unconscious Teresa. He knew only she had the choice to wake up from her deep slumber but he could clearly see she was hesitant in doing so.

"I wanted to die, Newt...." Teresa responded under her breath as she let out a shaky breath. She didn't understand why she was still alive and why Thomas still cared about her, knowing how much she hurt him. It was something she regretted, hurting the person she loved the most.

"But you didn't." Newt muttered, firmly as he intently stared at Teresa. She held the power to come back to the real world or walk away to the light forever. It was something he couldn't do but simply watch the former girl glader from the sidelines, hoping she would choose to wake up again.

"I made mistakes and hurt the people I cared about. I don't deserve to live, Newt...." She spoke in a broken voice as she desperately tried to hold her tears back. Regret and doubts spread through her body, not knowing if she even had the right to be reunited with Thomas as she innocently tilted her head.

"Tommy needs you, Teresa." Newt responded, grabbing her arm as he turned her in the direction of Thomas sitting near her bed. He swallowed hard, now understanding how lost Teresa was feeling and wanted her to know she still had a reason to live.

He understood she made a mistake trusting WICKED but eventually he realised she had good intentions from the start, wanting to find something that could save innocent people from the virus.
Before he could find peace, he wanted his best friend to be happy in the safe haven and knew he had reunite the two lovers. He wouldn't rest until he changed her mind.

Teresa shakily took in the sight before her as she watched Thomas bring her small hand to his mouth before he softly kissed her knuckles. A intense longing stirred in her chest, unknowingly moving closer to him as a leaked tear escaped her watery blue eyes.

"Come back to me, Teresa...." Thomas whispered, softly as he stared at the unconscious Teresa. His brown eyes were filled with tears as he pressed light kisses on her fingers, his voice echoing in the empty hut.

"You need to go back." Newt spoke, quietly as he turned his attention onto Teresa. He knew what he had to do, silently nodding his encouragement as he saw her stare back at him with tearful blue eyes.
"I forgive you."

Teresa breathed in deeply, not believing what she just heard as she silently processed his words. His pale hand gently patted her head like a brother would show his affection to his sister, a crooked smile on his face. Her chest ached at his actions because she knew it was sad that their friendship was now fixed, only as ghostly beings.

"Be happy. I always knew Thomas's heart belonged to you, even when you betrayed us." Newt muttered, a crooked smile still on his face as he watched her slowly begin fading away. Relief and peace spread through his body, noticing her stare at Thomas with adoration in her blue eyes.

She was finally returning back to her body, accepting the real world again as she began disappearing into thin air. A grateful smile plastered on her face, accepting the choice to live once more and move on from her past mistakes.
"Thank you...." Teresa whispered, shakily as she bid farewell to her friend for the last time.

The first thing she felt awakening was her small hand enclosed in something familiar, the feel of bedsheets against her back. Her fingers shifted in his strong hold, loving his warmth as she heard his breathing hitch in response.

Her blue eyes slowly opened, the distant sound of the hustle of people could be heard outside as she stared up at a silent Thomas. Disbelief clouded his brown eyes, not believing she was finally awake as he intently stared down at Teresa.

"Hi...." She spoke, softly as a fond smile grew on her face. Happiness spread through her chest, slightly shifting in the bed as she slowly lifted her hand and caressed his rough cheek. In that moment, she knew she made the right choice.

Thomas shakily close his eyes in bliss as he leaned into her soothing touch, placing his large hand over hers. She finally came back to him and he swore to himself, he would never let her go again.
