Set after the Death Cure au
————
Guilt was the only thing swelling up in her chest, distinctly feeling Thomas's intense gaze burning the back of her head as she walked past the runners. His brown eyes had captured hers with such an intensity that she was forced to look away.

She was heading towards the Med-jacks hut, desperately ignoring her heart pounding at the thought of a certain runner as she remembered Aris urgently asking her to come over. It had something to do with Brenda.

"I've got a fever. It sucks that I'm stuck in bed." Brenda spoke, dejected as she lazily lay in her bed. She was looking forward to her date with Thomas, it was good thing she had Teresa to help her fix this as she quickly straighten herself up.
"I need you to cancel the date with Thomas."

Teresa suddenly froze, not understanding what just happened as she stared back at her friend. A small part of her was hoping Brenda would still allow her to have this evening with Thomas but she was wrong. What she didn't like was Brenda was fine with Thomas getting hurt by Teresa canceling last minute.

"Why not have it another day?" She asked, quietly as she realised she was going to have hurt her best friend by doing this. There had to be another way.
"Because when I get better, I'm going to ask him out myself." Brenda responded, calmly as she stared at Teresa.

"What?" Teresa whispered, shocked as her blue eyes widen at her words. Her heart instantly sank, watching Brenda nod with a small smile on her face as she breathed in shakily.
"Ok. I know what I should do."

It was quiet in the safe haven, the sound of the rain could be heard as she tried to forget about all her worries in her hut. She was drained and tired, blankets covering her shoulders as she stayed curled up in her warm bed. Her afternoon nap didn't help.

A sudden knock echoed into the silence, causing her to become startled as she sleepily rubbed her eyes and headed towards the door.
"Tom...." She gasped, her tiredness instantly gone as she stared at the sight of a drenched Thomas.

She honestly didn't know he managed to look so adorable especially soaking wet from the rain as she noticed the drops of water slide down his face, feeling her cheeks unknowingly flush red.

"Hey, can I come in?" Thomas spoke, softly as he stared back at her. A fond smile grew on his face, finding her cute in that moment as his fingers had the urge to touch her messy raven hair, wanting to feel it's softness.

"Yes, come in!" She responded, alarmed as she realised he was still standing in the rain. She quickly gestured him inside, ignoring his low chuckle as she closed the door.

"I guess wearing my best clothes were for nothing." Thomas muttered, quietly as he glanced at his soaked shirt. He glanced back at Teresa, only to see her cover his head with a towel and began drying his wet hair.

"You're going to catch a cold, Tom." Teresa whispered, softly as she stared at him with worried blue eyes. She instinctively moved closer to him as their eyes locked, burning with unknown emotions.

Her breathing hitched, noticing his gaze travel across her face until slowly landing on her pink lips as his brown hair strands fell onto his wet forehead. She reluctantly glanced away, her small hands letting go of the damp towel as she realised how close they were standing.
"Your not ready yet?" He spoke, quietly as he stared at a silent Teresa.

She meekly looked at her clothes, feeling a wave of dread wash over her as she knew she definitely wasn't dressed for a date. Brenda's words echoed into her head and hoped Thomas would understand, knowing what she had to do. A lump of emotion was stuck in her throat, trying to find the courage to say her next words.

"Um....I'm sorry, Tom. I think we better cancel the date....since it's raining so bad....you know for the picnic...." Teresa muttered, shakily and didn't realise she was now rambling. Her voice became quieter towards the end, knowing her excuse was pathetic.

"Oh...." Thomas responded, quietly as his hands continued drying his damp hair. His voice sounded odd, traces of shock and disappointment could be heard.

"I'm sorry...." She whispered, shakily as her chest ached at her own words. Her gaze was now fixated on his face, only to be covered with the damp towel so she couldn't see much of his expression.

Silence filled the air for a while, the only sound of the towel could be heard as she numbly saw Thomas force himself to smile at her. He was reassuring her it was ok even if there was a sad look in his brown eyes.
"I should leave." He muttered in barely audible voice as he placed the towel on her bed and headed towards the door.

Teresa knew she should let him walk away and when Brenda gets better, he'll be happy with her. She should just be his good friend. So what was this throbbing pain in her heart as she watched him walk away?

Before she could think any further, her hand quickly reached out and grabbed the back of his damp shirt. She couldn't take it anymore.

"Don't go...." She spoke, shakily as she leaned against his back. Her hand clutched the damp shirt, not wanting to let go and didn't notice him frozen. For the first time since she's been living in the safe haven, she wanted to be selfish.

"Do you want me to stay, Teresa?" He responded, quietly as he breathed in deeply.
"Just don't go...." She whispered, shakily as tears glistened in her blue eyes. She honestly didn't want him to be with Brenda.

"I won't...." Thomas muttered, quietly as he turned around and hungrily slanted his mouth against hers. He groaned at her intoxicating taste, finally giving in to what he had been craving for so long as he pulled her closer to him.

She returned the kiss with equal hunger, her fingers threading through his damp hair as she moaned into his mouth. Her back quickly became pinned to the wall as he deepened the kiss, their tongues demanding more of each other. They drowned in one another until their lungs gasped for air, their lips now swollen.

"I can't breathe...." Teresa whispered, breathlessly as she stared at him. Her blue eyes were hazy as she slowly wrapped her arms around his neck. This was heaven.

"Good...." Thomas murmured, breathing heavily as he nibbled on her swollen pink lips. He couldn't believe he was holding Teresa in his arms like this, loving her taste as his brown eyes darkened at her soft whimper.
"I've wanted to do this for so long."

"Me too...." She gasped, leaning into his addicting touch. Her breathing hitched as she felt him scoop her up into his arms, her head resting against his chest and watched him carry her towards her bed.

They snuggled together in bliss, cocooned in each other's warmth as the sun began setting for the day. She happily nuzzled his neck, breathing in his presence and felt complete as she felt him press a soft kiss on her head.

This was not what she expected what would happen today but she was glad it did, finally voicing her hidden feelings to Thomas and learning he felt the same. She only hoped now that Brenda would understand.
