My dad cleared his throat, making me look at him. “Can I get an explanation please?”
I smiled and gently touched his arm.” Let’s go get some tea. It’s going to be a long one this time dad.”
Mayuri
“I think I handled that adequately.” I declared proudly.
“HA!” I spun around and saw Akon looking at me with disbelief written on his otherwise startled face. “I mean…”
“Do you have something to say…?” I stepped towards him.
Out of fear, I presume, he stepped back. “Well, I mean… It’s nothing.”
“It obviously isn’t. If my research is flawed, than please give input.”
“Well, you handled that rather roughly don’t you think?” Akon finally spoke up.
“… “ I turned away and started to walk. “What do you know; you’ve never been in love.”
“Yea, but I honestly know more than you about i-.”
“Nonsense! I researched it heavily before she arrived here. I looked it up thoroughly and got many good – rather stupid however – results from it.”
“Did you read anywhere that you can’t man handle a woman and then tell her she has no choice for a dinner date YOU decided she had to go to?” Akon pointed out.
I stopped in my tracks and glared at him over my shoulder.” You have some nerve speaking to me like that… do you want to be my next project?”
Akon shrunk.” I… I’m just saying that in love – things have to be agreed upon. You can’t just decide everything she does like you do with Nemu a-.”
“Ah!” I exclaimed. “She didn’t even get to meet Nemu. I’m sure she’ll appreciate the bio-mechanics of her as well as the formula that was used to devise her personality and complete body form.”
“Did you hear anything I said, Captain?” I clicked back to Akon.
“Yes, yes… something about… Options and giving them. Bah, I’ll do much more research on the whole thing – I had such a short amount of time before she got here that I wasn’t able to be thorough.”
“Captain that’s only the first half of what I said. How could yo-.”
“Mayuri-taicho.” A voice called out to me from the nearby shadows, but the voice alerted me to it being Byakuya.
I gave an annoyed sigh as Byakuya stepped out from the shadows. “Taicho... is there something you need?”
“It’s time Mayuri… Have you made your choice?”
I carelessly rubbed my chin.” What choice?” I started walking, headed back toward the barracks.
Byakuya stepped in my way.” You know exactly what choice.”
I looked Byakuya straight in the eye and resisted glaring at him. “Akon.”
“Yes sir?”
“Go ahead and head back. I’ll be there in a while… Pick me out something nice to wear for dinner. Something festive, but not to flowery.”
“Yes sir.” Akon ran passed Byakuya and only glanced back once until he disappeared around the corner.
“Would you like to walk and talk or stand here and stand while staring at me?” I smirked.
“We shouldn’t be long, if you just give me your answer.”
“Well you were there, you saw me invite her to my newest project as well as dinner.” I dug my pinky into my ear, cleaning it.
“More like, you demanded her to both of those things.” Byakuya crossed his arms over his chest. “I want to hear it out loud Mayuri. Tell me.”
“Look Byakuya, I understand that you are trying to look out for her but after my extensive research on ‘feelings’ amongst other things. I found this interesting fact.” I stepped closer to him and even though I was 3 inches shorter it didn’t bother me as I glared up at him. “Relationships are between two people, that means that you need to mind your own business. If I have feelings for her, that’s none of your business. If she has feelings for me, that’s none of your business. All I know is, you should keep your feelings for her in check. She’s mine.”
I moved around Byakuya and proceeded to walk to the barracks with a smirk on my face.
