Jasmine Brevar- District Eight

I wake up to sunlight and the escort, Daisy Driller, standing over me. "Good morning Jasmine!" She says in a cheery voice. "Time to get up! It's a big day! Meet us for breakfast soon!" I sigh and get out of bed. I quickly dress and head down for breakfast.

Daisy and our mentor, Clyde, are sitting down at the table and have began eating. I sit down across from them and grab a plate. I pile it with bacon, eggs, and toast. I also get a glass of juice. In a few minutes, my fellow tribute, Alanna, shuffles into the kitchen. She takes a seat next to me and fills her plate. We eat in silence until Daisy begins talking. "Well girls training day has arrived!" She says.

Like we don't already know. I've been dreading this day a lot. It's when you see what the other tributes can do. You know how good or bad they do. You find out what you're up against. Daisy leaves in a few minutes, so it's just Clyde, Alanna, and I.

"So Jasmine, you said your strength is knot-tying,"Clyde says. "Uh yeah I'm okay," I reply. "And Alanna, you said you're good at slingshots," he says to Alanna. "Okay girls, there are two things you can do. You can save your skills until the private sessions, or you can do them at training to show the other tribute what you can do," Clyde tells us. "I think we should save our skills for the private sessions," Alanna says. "Me too," I agree. "Okay. Training is at 10 a.m. this morning so prepare yourselves for it. Good luck," Clyde says to us. We finish eating and head back to our rooms.

Rowan Jenners - District One

Training starts at 10. It's 9:50 right now, so I should probably head down. I don't want to. I don't want to make allies. I don't want to be here. I don't want to be in the Games. I miss my mom and sister. I need them. I can barely live a day without them. But I'm forced to.

Suddenly, Clementine Leroy, marches into my room. "Rowan, it's time to go," she says. "Fine." I get up and follow her. The other girl from my district, Coral, and our mentors, Perry Coldwell and Celine Samim, are waiting for us. We take the elevator down to the Training Center. "Good luck. Show them what you got. Visit as much stations as you can," Perry advises. "Don't hold back," Celine says with a wink, and then they're riding back up and we're left in the Training Center.

Most of the tributes are already here. Coral and Is stand together. This is when we really get to see the tributes for the first time. We saw them at opening ceremonies, but not really. Most of them are taller, bigger, and of course older than me. There's only three twelve year olds: Cami, Alora, and me. "Hello tributes," a woman who stands in front of us says. She has a braid down her back and speaks in a slight accent. "I am the head trainer Ivana. I will explain the point of each station, ways you could die in the arena, and get you guys in shape to compete." All of the tributes look at the different stations, including me. I see the gauntlets (obstacle courses) and smile. I'm good at that type of thing. Same with climbing trees or jumping from tree to tree. That could be useful in the arena. Ivana talks for a bit more, and then she says we can begin.

Coral and I stay together. We decide to go to the knot-tying station first. The leader is named Shane. He teaches us several different knots and how to tie them. I knew some of the more basic ones, but he teaches us more advanced knots that could be useful.

Next, we go to the camouflage station where we learn how to blend in with different nature things from the leader, Harley. This reminds of Flora and I used to used to go outside and make designs with the mud on our hands. Kind of weird, but fun, and it makes me miss my mom and Flora and my home even more.

Sydney McCravon - District Nine

"Sydney let's head to a ropes course," the other girl from my district, North Cameron, suggests to me as I start a fire. "Okay," I agree. We get up and head over to the ropes course at the back of the Training Center. Most of them are filled with other tributes trying them out but there is one that is empty. The course is a net and you have to climb to the top. "You can go first," I tell North nervously. I'm kind of scared to do this. North climbs on and steadily makes her way to the top. "Good job," I tell her when she comes back down. "Your turn," she says to me.

I climb onto the net. It's really a lot harder than you think. I'm doing okay, but when I make it a little above the middle, it wobbles and turns all the way around, so I fall onto the hard mat beneath me on my back. I lie there for a few seconds before I slowly make my way up. I look over and see Alora Debrowski laughing at me. I roll my eyes and walk over to North.

"It's okay Syd, Alora's just being dumb," she tells me sympathetically. I nod. "Let's go to a station of your choice," North says. "Okay, let's go to fishhooks," I say. We walk over to fishhooks, where we run into Serena Hemmings from District One. I end up liking her. She would be a good ally.
