Calvin Jameson - District One
"Nice of you to join us," one of the mentors, Liam, says as I stumble into the kitchen. "Sorry, slept late," I mumble back, running a hand through my hair. I sit down. Cami is already there.
"Here have some breakfast." The other mentor, Bree, hands me a plate filled with food. "Thanks," I say.
"Today I'll work with you on how to answer Caesar's questions and Bree will work with you on how to come off to the crowd. And Aviana will work with you on presence," Liam tells Cami and I. We nod. I'm almost done eating when I hear Aviana's heels clacking against the floor. She comes up to the table.
"Morning everyone!! Calvin, you'll come with me first," she says. I gobble down my last piece of toast and get up. I follow her into the living room. The whole time I'm wanting to leave. She tells me how to sit and act like a man. Whatever. After fours hours of pain, she trills, "Okay, now go see Liam. Have fun!"
I gladly get up and hurry out of there. Liam and I sit down in another room. "Are you excited or nervous for the interviews?" Asks Liam. "Pretty excited. A little nervous though," I reply.
For the next little while, Liam coaches me on how to respond to Caesar's questions. He gives me some example questions and I have to practice answering them.
"Are you missing home?" Is the first question Liam asks. "Just a bit. I'm excited to be in the Games and make it back," I answer, then look at Liam for his reaction. He shakes his head. "Don't come off as cocky. Say, I'm missing home just a little bit. Then say I'm excited to be in the Games and see how it pans out," Liam suggests. I nod. I repeat what he said. He claps. "That's the one," he says.
By the time I head to Bree, I feel pretty confident in my answers. We eat lunch while we talk about the interviews. We get served orange soup, sandwiches, and rolls. "Okay, so what do you want you personality to be during the interviews?" Asks Bree. "I'm thinking funny," I respond. "Okay. You're funny in real life, so we shouldn't have much work to do," Bree says and I nod.
After lunch, we do the same thing Liam and I did. She'll ask me a question and then I'll answer it. When we're done, I feel pretty good about the interviews.
Soon, Aviana calls us down to dinner. "Are you two excited for the interviews?" Aviana asks Cami and I as we sit down. "Yeah I guess," Cami says. "Yeah," I say at the same time. A few Avoxes come in and set our food down. Everything looks so good; there's vegetable soup, roast chicken, thick slices of bread with butter, thin slices of ham, and broccoli with rice. I'm starving so I grab a bit of everything.
"Are you prepared for the interviews?" Questions Aviana. "Yep," Cami and I reply. "How do you think you'll do in the interviews?" Aviana asks. "Stop with the questions!" Cami exclaims. Aviana purses her lips. I hold in my laughter.
Sky Rangoli - District Two
I wake up smiling on interview day from the great dream I had. We were in the Games, and my alliance was Cami, Cove, North, Jacklyn, and Holly. They made a new rule saying six could win, and we did. And then I realized it was a dream. And today was interview day. I swear, my stylist better not dress me in a big pink flouncy dress. I just wish we could scrap the whole interviews. Whatever.
I drag myself out of bed, get dressed in black leggings and a grey sweater, do my hair in two braids, and head down the hall.
"Hi, Sky," the mentor, Aria, and the escort, Opal, both say as I take a seat. "Hi," I say back and begin eating. "Interview day Sky! Are you excited?" Opal asks. "Um, kind of," I say. "You'll do amazing, Sky," Aria tells me. I smile. Soon, we all finish breakfast. I head into my room and sit down. I begin thinking about the Games.
I really hope Holly and I find each other. I want to find everyone, but Holly more than anyone. We're best friends and get along really well. I also want to find Jordan just for Holly. Holly really likes him and by the way Jordan looks at her, you can just tell he likes her. I don't want Holly to be sad if we don't find him. And Jordan will be really sad if he doesn't find Holly. I tell myself to think of all the good things that could happen, but it keeps drifting to the bad things that could happen.
Not finding Holly, being all alone, getting nothing from the Cornucopia, dying. And I do miss my mom and my brothers. Even Sebastian. I know we tease each other like every day, but I wouldn't trade my brothers for anything. I'm so deep in my thoughts that I don't realize Opal has called me for lunch multiple times. "Coming, coming," I mumble.
We eat stir-fry and chicken for lunch. It's not long before we head down to our stylists and prep team. My stylist is Ciara and my prep team is Chloe, Randi, and Ian. "Hi!" They exclaim. "Hi," I say back.
They get started right away. They scrub, wash, wax, exfoliate, and do other things to get me prepared. I sit down for them to do my makeup, hair, and nails. It takes a while, and I'm kind of excited to see what they've done. I look in the mirror. I love it!
Chloe did a high ponytail in my hair, but she straightened it so it's very sleek and obviously, straight. She added a big silver bow (which I'm not exactly thrilled about) and glittery black clips in my hair. My makeup is very striking, it's silver eyeshadow, big eyelashes, and bold black shimmery lipstick. My nails are silver, long, and square shaped. "I love it!" I tell my prep team.
Ciara then brings out my dress. It's a long, tight, black and silver dress. One sleeve is long while the other is short. The accessories are black flats (I can't wear heels) and a sparkly silver choker. "I love it, it's so pretty," I tell her. She smiles and hands it to me. I quickly change into it. My whole look looks awesome.
It's time to head down now. All the tributes have to stand in the hall. We have a bit of time before the interviews start, so people are taking to each other. I rush over to Holly.
"Sky you look awesome!!" She exclaims. I laugh. "Thanks!" I say. "You look amazing yourself!" I say. Holly's dress is dark blue. It's strapless and has a short poufy skirt. She has blue heels and a blue necklace. Her hair is in a braided bun. "Aww thanks!" Holly say. Just then, I see Jordan walking up behind Holly.
"Holly Jordan's coming! I'll watch from my spot!!" I yell-whisper. She nods. I hurry back to my spot between Calvin and Trevor. I turn around and peek out to watch Jordan and Holly. I can hear them from my spot. I hear Jordan tell Holly how pretty she looks. Aww, that's so sweet. I smile, feeling happy for Holly. I also hear Holly teasing Jordan about how she got a higher training score than he did. I laugh.
Everyone heads back to their assigned spots because Caesar begins talking. I wonder how my interview's gonna go. I'll find out soon.
