Reese Blaine - District Seven
"Happy 275th Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favour!" The guys says and begins counting down from ten. Panic rises through my body. This is really happening. The Games are starting.
"9, 8, 7," the guys continues. I look around me. To my right is a big forest. Behind me is a large lake. In the middle of us is a big field of grass and the Cornucopia. I see all sorts of supplies spilling out of it. I see some spears among them and smile. Those spears are mine. I get in position to run as the guy counts down from three. "3, 2, 1!" He shouts, and the gong sounds.
Everybody runs one place or another. I run towards the Cornucopia. I see Alora and Serena heading there too. My mind is somewhere else, all I'm thinking about is making it to the Cornucopia before anyone else. I sprint faster and make it there first. I grab some spears and a small green backpack and then dash away into the forest. I hear a few cannons go off on my way there. I run deeper into the forest and soon settle in a nice spot. I take a few deep breaths. I set the spear beside me and then put the backpack in front of me.
I find a small empty water bottle, a water purifier, a container of purple berries, a bag of crackers, some rabbit, a first aid kit, and a sleeping bag. Pretty good. I spend the day walking deeper into the forest and finding a good thick tree to sleep upon. I sit down there and eat some rabbit and crackers from my pack, only a little though. Then I prop my spears and bag against the tree, take out my sleeping bag, and climb inside. I use my bag as a pillow.
After a few minutes, the sky lights up and the Capitol anthem plays. The deaths were Alanna, District Eight, Ivia, District Ten, and Addelyn, District Twelve. When it stops I turn over and try to fall asleep.
