Marcus Tropdon - District Five

I'm kind of glad the whole twist happened. I'm allies now with Brooklyn and West. I like them okay. They're almost as strong as me. We're on the winter side. I told them there was no way I was being on the summer side because I hate summer.

When the gong sounded, my alliance and I got to the Cornucopia and got our things. We were second to arrive, the first people were Holly and Sky. Of course they were. And they got all the good stuff. God they're so annoying.

Only two people died in the bloodbath, which is pretty surprising. Although I think most people got their supplies and got the hell out of there. My alliance and I got three bags and some weapons, which is pretty good.

Right now we're eating a snack. We're in one of the log cabins. They're pretty nice. We're discussing the possible alliances that there could be. "The six girls could be together, they were talking about that during training," West says. "But Holly could be with Jordan," I say in disgust. I hate both of them. "Same with Dove and Marsh. They did training together," Brooklyn adds. "But we don't know for sure," West says. "No we don't. Thanks for that great observation," I say.

"Okay, so who are our biggest and weakest competitors?" West asks, ignoring my comment. "That little twelve year old Cami isn't going to make it very far. I'm honestly surprised she made it in the first place," sneers Brooklyn. "Agreed. Any more twelve year old's?" I question. "No I think there's only Cami. Noa is only thirteen though, she should be easy to take on," Brooklyn says.

Just then, Claudius Templesmith begins talking. "Hello tributes. We hope you are enjoying your time in the arena. We see that there are six alliances so far. We wish you the best in your upcoming days in the arena. Good luck and good day." He announces.

We spend the rest of the day trying to figure out the alliances. For dinner we have a few berries each. We didn't get much food in our bags, and for both breakfast and lunch we kind of ate a lot.

"I say we steal food from another alliance. We clearly can't survive another day on just berries," Brooklyn says. "Let's go, we're tough enough," I say. Brooklyn and I get up with our knives and head towards the door. "West, you coming?" I ask as West is still sitting down. "Huh? Oh... yeah," he says, getting up and joining us. Both Brooklyn and I roll our eyes. We make a plan of what to do as we walk.

Brooklyn comes to a stop all of a sudden. I follow her line of vision and see Dove, Marsh, Cami, and Jacklyn up in a tree. "Let's go," whispers Brooklyn and we walk up to their tree. They all hop down.

"What do you want?" Asks Marsh. "Well how about we do a little trade?" Brooklyn asks. I smile to myself. This is all part of our plan. "What kind of plan?" Questions Cami. "We were thinking we could give you something, food-wise, and we could give you something, food-wise," I explain. "Okay, what do you want to trade?" Asks Dove. "We have berries. What do you have?" Brooklyn asks them. "We have a chicken," Jacklyn says, reaching into her pack and getting it. "Sure, we'll take that," I say. They hand over their chicken and we hand them the container of berries.

"Are you sure these are safe?" Cami asks worriedly. "Yes, of course. I'll even try one." Brooklyn leans forward, grabs a berry, and swallows it. "See? They're fine. Go ahead, try one," I say. Cami nervously grabs one and chews it. Then she slumps down to the ground, unconscious.

Dove, Marsh, and Jacklyn all begin panicking. "What the hell did you do?" Screams Jacklyn, stepping forward and shoving me. That was our plan all along. We give them a container of poisonous berries with one normal one in it. Then Brooklyn suggests to try one, and she takes the good one. Then someone else tries one, but it's poisonous. Guess Cami was the lucky winner.

"What do we do??" I scream as Cami remains on the floor, unconscious. "I don't know!" Cries Marsh. "Okay wait! I remember Cami telling me about poisonous berries, let me see them!" Jacklyn exclaims. I quickly toss her the container. Jacklyn studies them closely.

"She told me you would die within two hours of eating this berry! We need to help her before time runs out!" Exclaims Jacklyn. "So how do we help her?" I question. "We need a specific antidote," Jacklyn says quietly. "There's no possible way we could get it," I say sadly, looking at Cami. "Unless..." Marsh begins. "Unless we get it as a sponsor gift!" Exclaims Jacklyn happily. "All we have to do is hope we get it," I say. "All we have to do is hope," repeats Jacklyn.

"Can we eat, I'm hungry," says Marsh. "Sure, we have some apples," I say, reaching into my pack and pulling them out. I hand them out to everyone.

About an hour goes by, still no sponsor gift arrives. A half hour later, still nothing. Jacklyn is pacing back and forth now. Marsh and I are trying to calm her down. Secretly, I'm really nervous too. I like Cami as an ally, she's a really good member of our alliance. And I know how upset Jacklyn would be if she died.

Marsh says he's going to walk around and see if the sponsor gift comes. "Be careful," I tell him. Jacklyn and I wait nervously. I'm pacing now too. No cannons go off, so she's not dead yet. Jacklyn starts crying a little, so I walk over to her and put an arm around her. I look up when I hear footsteps. Not too far is Marsh, holding a small gift.

My face lights up. I run over to him, fling my arms around him, and kiss him on the cheek. "Marsh, thank you so much!!!" I exclaim. Jacklyn runs and hugs Marsh as well. Her smile is so big, you can't help but smiling too.

"Hurry, let's give it to Cami!" I yell. We run over to her and kneel by her side. Marsh hands the antidote to Jacklyn. She's about to give it to Cami when we hear a cannon go off.

We all fall silent. "Is it Cami?" I ask quietly. Jacklyn puts her hand over Cami's heart. "It's not beating," she says and then breaks down into tears. Marsh and I hurry over to her. She begins sobbing. I hug her tightly and let her cry. A few tears of my own fall as well. I really miss Cami and I know Jacklyn and Marsh do too.

That night I shed a few tears when Cami's picture is shown in the sky. There are two other people who died today, Ariel from District Seven and Drake from District Two. I think their cannons went off in the morning but I wonder how they died.
