Sky Rangoli - District Two

There were four deaths yesterday: Coral, Ocean, Meadow, and Nikita. The people that died before were Ruby, Alanna, Ivia, and Addelyn. That leaves sixteen of us. My alliance is strong.

There's Tenlie, me, Jasmine, and Blossom. Tenlie and I were originally allies, but then we added Jasmine and Blossom to it which made it better. I'm thinking about this as Jasmine wakes up and get my spear. My turn to take watch. I walk over to the log where we sit when we take watch. I sit down and lay my spear across my lap with my hands on top.

After a few minutes I hear a buzzing noise above my head. I stand up and confusedly look above me. And there it is. A big, huge, buzzing tracker jacker nest. And I mean huge. There are some tracker jackets buzzing around, but only a couple so I decide we'll be fine. In a few minutes though there's more and more tracker jackers swarming around us. I quickly rouse Jasmine, Blossom, and Tenlie awake. "Guys guys wake up!" They soon wake up and I point to all the tracker jackers.

"What the hell!" Screams Tenlie. "Grab our stuff and run!!" Yells Jasmine. I rush and grab my pack, a sleeping bag, a jacket, and my spear. We begin running but right away both Jasmine and Tenlie trip and fall because they have too much stuff in their hands. The tracker jackers immediately go for them. Blossom and I run to help them, but there's so much tracker jackers that we can't do anything to help.

I look over at Blossom and there are tears in her eyes, they're in mine too. I should've woken them earlier. I regret that so much. This is my fault, it is. If I had woken them up when I first saw the tracker jackers, we could have gotten out of there in time. It's all my fault. The tears roll down my cheeks as the cannons go off and Tenlie and Jasmine stay still on the ground. They're dead. But they didn't have to me. This is on me. Blossom and I walk away sadly and slowly.

"This is my fault Blossom." She looks at me and shakes her head. "Yes it is. I saw the nest but I didn't wake you guys up right away because there weren't many of them. But if I had, we would've all made it out alive," I explain, tears rolling down faster. "Sky it's not your fault," Blossom says softly, hugging me. I hug her back, crying quietly. I can't believe they're gone.

Blossom and I continue walking on until we settle on some rocks. I fill my water bottle with water from the lake and then add the purifier and wait.

"Well what do we do now?" I ask. "I'll go get some food for us," Blossom tells me. She heads back into the forest. I sit and wait. Suddenly, I hear a scream that must be Blossom's. No. No. No. I run so fast into the forest, where I see Blossom on the ground, getting attacked by tracker jackers.

"Blossom!" I cry out. I run forward but fall and sink onto my knees. There's nothing I can do now, but still I try to help her. In doing so I get a few stings on my neck and face and stagger backward. I hear the cannon for Blossom go off as I fall and see darkness.

North Cameron - District Nine

Serena, Sydney, and I are sitting in our little spot and eating breakfast. We don't have much today, only some berries and a little rabbit.

"Guys, I think we should ask one or two people to join us," Serena suggests. She's brought this up before.

"Okay I guess. But who?" Wonders Sydney. "How about Alora Debrowski? She seems like she would be a good asset to the group," I offer. Syd and Serena shrug. "Okay are we going to go look for her?" I ask. They look at each other, then shrug again. "Let's go," I say, standing up. Okay, I know I'm a little bossy. But it gets things done. I grab my knife and Serena gets her bow and arrow. We head on our journey.

We pass fields, meadows, trees, rocks, streams...I never knew how big this arena was. We pass some alliances but hide and keep our distance. We pass some rocks and from afar we see Alora sitting by herself. Score!

"Are we just going to go up and ask her?" Questions Serena. "Well yeah duh, what else would we do?" I ask. I take the lead and begin walking. Sydney and Serena trail behind me. I approach Alora carefully. She quickly stands up and whips out her knife. "Um, Alora, I,"-Serena clears her throat-"We were wondering if you wanted to join our alliance?"

Alora stays still for a second and then lowers her knife. "Fine, sure," she replies. I turn around and look at Sydney and Serena. They nod. "Okay so we had our stuff set up by the forest. Do you want to go there?" I ask Alora, who nods. She gets her things, and we head back to our spot. Alora gets set up.

Later that night, Alora and I are taking watch while Sydney and Serena sleep. We've been rotating. We know Alora a lot better from the day we've spent with her. I like her. I like her better than Sydney and Serena. She's tougher than they are, and she'll do more things than they will.

"So North, I've been thinking," Alora begins. I look over at her. She lowers her voice. "I think we should abandon Serena and Sydney."

Wow. I'm shocked. My mouth drops open.

"Really?!" I whisper-yell back. "Yeah. You know how they are, North. They're not tough enough and they won't make it. You know they won't. They're just dragging us down," Alora tells me.

I'm still shocked, but deep down, I know that Alora is right. They are dragging us down. I don't want to, but...

"Okay. I'll do it," I inform Alora. She grins evilly. "When are we going to do it?" She wonders. "I don't know, what do you think?" I question her. It's her idea.

"Let's do it tomorrow morning. We can grab all the stuff and then get out of here," Alora tells me. "Not all of the stuff. I don't want to leave them with nothing," I say quickly. "North! This is what you have to do! Do you want to abandon them or not?" Exclaims Alora loudly. "Keep your voice down," I hiss at her. "Fine," I agree.

In a little while, Serena and Sydney wake up and take watch. Alora and I head to sleep. When I wake up, the sun is just rising and everyone else is asleep. This is the time to do it.

I quietly and quickly wake up Alora. We collect all our things quickly without our fellow allies waking up. Once we have everything, we stand up. I glance at Sydney and Serena sleeping, and I get this weird feeling. A feeling of anger about what I'm doing. Like I shouldn't be doing this. Whatever. I ignore it. I can't back down now.

"North! We have to leave! Serena moved a little," Alora whispers. "Oh...Oh, okay. Let's go," I say. Alora and I begin to walk away. I turn around and look back one last time at the people who were once my allies. But it's my fault we're not anymore.

Alora and I walk along and I don't look back again. We settle by the rocks where she used to be.

Later that night, the anthem begins. Moment of truth. We find out if they lived or not. The first person up in the sky is Serena. I let out a breath. So they didn't survive. And Sydney is on there too. Now I feel awful. This is my fault. I could've stayed with them. I shouldn't have gone with Alora.
