Roger Bittans - District Nine
"Roger! Roger! Time to get up!" Exclaims the escort, Ramona Lovett. I sit bolt upright. Today is the first day of the Hunger Games. I get up quickly and get ready. I take a shower and get dressed. I brush my teeth and try to comb my hair. I walk down the hall for breakfast. Even though I don't feel like eating, I pile my plate with a ton of food. I sit down and eat with Ramona, Finn, Travis, and Zaylee.
"So today is the first day of the Games," says Travis. "Do you have any tips?" Finn asks. "Make allies. Try to form an alliance with one or more people. It will help you," begins Zaylee. We nod. "Get all the things you need. Run to the Cornucopia, run for your life. If you don't have much time, grab whatever. Something is better than nothing," says Travis. "And most importantly, stay alive. Do everything you can to stay alive," Zaylee finishes.
After breakfast, I head into my room and think about what to do in the Games for hours. I come up with a strategy that hopefully will help. We soon make our way to the Launch Center on a hovercraft. On the way there, a Capitol attendant sticks a long needle into our arm which is our tracker. It's what they use to track us into the arena. When we get to the Center, we're each lead to a room. Our stylists are there. My stylist is Helena.
I first get dressed into the clothes every tribute has to wear. It's basically what the girls had to wear, a black and silver shirt and pants. When there's half a minute left, Helena hugs me tight and wishes me good luck. Ten seconds to go, I walk into the tube. I wave sadly to Helena. This is really happening. I'm going into the arena.
Soon, the tube begins to lift. We're standing in the arena. I take a deep breaths and open my eyes.
