The 275th Hunger Games

~The Games-The Bloodbath~

Holly Chang - District Seven

As we get lifted into the arena, my hands are sweating and my heart is hammering a mile a minute. When we're fully lifted, I take it all in.

Surrounding all the tribute plates is a big circular lake. Half of the lake is frozen water, half is running water. From the half of frozen water and on is winter. A forest of Christmas trees dusted with snow, snowy mountains, snowy floors, and snow falling from the sky. From the half of running water and on is summer. A forest of palm trees, tropical fruit trees, tropical flowers, and sandy floors. Half the tribute plates are on the winter side and the other half are on the summer side. I'm on the summer side. I look around at the tributes. Sky is also on the summer side, she's about five people down. Jordan's on the winter side.

The guy begins counting down from ten. I get in a position to dive in the water. Back home in Seven, we used to swim in the lake all the time. I would have swimming competitions with my younger sister for fun, and I'm glad, because now it will help me. I can swim pretty fast so I should be able to make it.

"Three, two, one!" The guy yells, and the gong sounds. I brace myself for the cold water and dive in. I swim like my life depends on it, which it does. I get to the Cornucopia before anyone else. I start grabbing whatever I see. I hear footsteps from behind me and whirl around, ready to fight. But to my relief it's Sky. I smile and she smiles back. She starts grabbing things as well. Once more people start showing up we get out of there. We run over to the winter side and into the snowy forest. We come to clearing and sit down.

We're out of breath from running. "Why don't we see what we got?" Sky suggests once we calm down. I nod and get the things from beside me. Sky does as well. "I got three bags," I say. "I got two," Sky says. "We did pretty well," I say happily. "Did you get any weapons?" Sky asks. "Yeah, I got a few knives, a bow, and some arrows," I tell her. "I also got some knives and then a spear. So exited about that," Sky says. A spear is Sky's weapon.

"I say we walk around and try to find either Jordan and Calvin or our girl group," Sky suggests. "Yeah, safely of course," I agree. "Let's stay on the winter side for now and then we can move onto the summer side," Sky says. "Why don't we go through our bags first and then start?" I say. "Sure." Sky sits back down. My first bag is filled with blankets, coats, gloves, hats, and other winter things. Sky's first bag is filled with a loaf of bread, some more knives, some plastic, night-vision goggles, some bandages, some cream, and a few pairs of socks. Our next two bags are both filled with food and water. We each take one full water bottle. We put on some warm clothes before we take off.

Sky has her spear in hand and I have a knife, although I don't really know how to use on. We begin walking. We come to a another clearing in the forest and there's a snowy path leading to many log cabins. "Let's see if they're in one of the cabins!" I exclaim excitedly. She nods and we walk down the path. We start at the end house and work our way down. When we enter one in the middle, there's Ariel and Drake sitting on the floor around a fire. Sky gets her spear ready to throw.

"Wait! Don't hurt us!!" Shouts Ariel. "We didn't get anything from the Cornucopia, can you please help?" Drake asks. I turn to Sky. I think we should help, I mouth. Fine, she mouths back. "Okay, we'll help you," I tell Ariel and Drake. They both smile.

I hand some warm clothes to them, as they look very cold. We all sit down by the fire. I get out apples and beef strips for everyone. "Thanks for everything," Ariel says. Sky and I both smile. "No problem." I take a bite of my apple. "Are you guys supposed to be allies with anyone else?" Wonders Drake. "We were supposed to be in a big group with Cami, Jacklyn, Cove, North, Calvin, and Jordan. Jordan and Holly are dating," Sky replies. I blush slightly. I still can't believe Jordan and I are together. I miss him, I hope we find him soon.
