Calvin Jameson - District One

My alliance and I were really sad when Maverick died, but after two days we feel somewhat better. We definitely still miss him though.

I wake before anyone else does. I decide to go and hunt. I get us groosling and strawberries for breakfast. I head back up the hill. Jonah and Oliver are still sleeping. I cook the groosling and get the strawberries ready. They soon wake from the smell of smoke from the fire.

"Thanks Calvin!" They both say. "No problem," I say back, smiling. They come and join me around the fire. The groosling is really good, a nice change. We usually have turkey or duck, so this is new and different. The strawberries are nice and fresh as well.

We decide to test out the fishing supplies and get some fish for lunch. Both Jonah and Oliver know how to fish so they're going to teach me. We walk down the hill and over to the river. We each catch to fish and then happily head back up the hill. We quickly cook it and are about to eat it when we hear an announcement being made.

"Good afternoon, tributes. We have been watching you very closely and have realized that there are four alliances left and one person is by themselves. That person is your fellow tribute Marcus Tropdon. We have seen that Marcus has gotten a very dangerous weapon from the Cornucopia. We're going to introduce a game to you all, Hide and Seek. Marcus will be the one seeking, and we will give the rest of you two minutes to hide. When times up, Marcus will try and find you, and remember he has a dangerous weapon. Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favour." Claudius Templesmith announces. Then he begins counting down from two minutes.

My allies and I look at each other with wide eyes. "What the hell!?" I shout as we shove everything into our backpacks and bolt down the hill.

"Where do we go?" Oliver asks worriedly. "Follow me!" I yell over my shoulder. I run over to the abandoned neighbourhood and into one of the houses. We run up the stairs. "Behind the curtain!" Shouts Jonah. We trip over some old boxes on the way there but eventually make it over to the ratty curtain. We duck behind it, and we're well hidden.

"Well what do we do now?" Asks Jonah. "I guess the only thing to do is wait," I answer. "I wonder what the weapon is," whispers Oliver. "Yeah," Jonah and I agree. We quickly stop talking when we hear the front door of the house open. My heart begins hammering. We hear someone coming up the steps. I clap a hand over my mouth, so do Jonah and Oliver. The person reaches our floor.

"Come out of hiding. I'll find you eventually," the person says and to my horror it's Marcus.

Jonah and Oliver and I look at each other. Do we go out? Oliver mouths to Jonah and I. We nod. We slowly stand up and pull back the curtain. Marcus smiles evilly.

"What's the weapon?" I ask. Marcus holds it up. My allies and I look at each other with fear in our eyes. It's a gun.

"Please don't kill us," I plead. "I don't think so," Marcus replies slowly. Then he holds up the gun and shoots it directly at Jonah. Jonah slumps to the ground and a cannon goes off. "NO!" Oliver and I shout. We collapse at Jonah's side and begin sobbing. "Why did you do that," says Oliver, his voice breaking. "It's my weapon, why shouldn't I use it?" Marcus says annoyingly.

He raises the gun at me but Oliver jumps in front and takes the bullet before it reaches me. He falls to the floor and a second cannon goes off. "Oliver no!!! No!!" I cry, sobbing harder than ever.

I charge at Marcus with all I've got, sending him to the ground. I take the bags, take one last look at Jonah and Oliver, and get the hell out of there. I sob even more as I run past the river and into the forest. I see Jordan and Ashton there, hiding behind some trees.

"Guys, Marcus is in one of the houses. The dangerous weapon is a gun. He killed both Jonah and Oliver with it. We don't have much time. Can I hide with you guys?" I say in one breath. "Yeah of course," answers Jordan. I smile gratefully and join Ashton behind his tree. We have a good view of the houses, so if Marcus comes out we'll be able to see.

In a couple minutes he does come out. I alert Jordan and Ashton that he's out. Marcus heads into another house.

"Guys let's follow Marcus and see if we can help anyone," suggests Jordan. Ashton and I agree. We sling our bags over our shoulders and quickly run after Marcus. We stand by the door of the house he entered. I take a look inside. In one corner is Marcus, and in another is Dylan, Tucker, and a girl??

What. The. Heck?! I'm so confused right now. I look over at Ashton and Jordan and they look as shocked as I am. Marcus raises his gun. "Please don't kill us," says Tucker. Marcus shoots at Tucker but Dylan jumps in front of him and dies instead. It's just like what Oliver did for me. He was such a nice ally and friend, and so was Dylan. Tucker melts down and cries over Dylan's death.

"I can't even believe you. What the hell is wrong with you?" The girl screams at Marcus. She's crying as well. Marcus shoots at her but this time Tucker goes in front. He lands on the floor and his cannon goes off. The girl gets really angry, shoving and yelling at Marcus. He's about to shoot her when I step inside and yell, "Stop!"

Marcus turns around and is about to shoot me when Jordan and Ashton pull me back by my bag. Ashton yells at the girl to come with us. She bolts out of the entrance and we all run to the Cornucopia. Apple (she told us her name while we were running) is pretty fast for a girl. We soon arrive at the horn, out of breath. Marcus is right behind us. "I can't run any longer," Ashton says. The rest of us agree.

When Marcus joins us at the horn, he whips his gun out again. He's about to shoot us when Claudius Templesmith begins speaking.

"Stop! Stop right now!" He says. We look at each other in confusion. "We have the final six advancing on to the big Games!" Claudius exclaims. I clap my hand over my mouth. What?!?! We're going home!!

I turn to Jordan and Ashton in excitement. We all hug.

"I present to you the final six. Calvin Jameson, Trevor Twilight, Marcus Tropdon, Hudson Bricker, Ashton Tanala, and Jordan Kervers. Congratulations!" Claudius finishes.

I can't wait to go home, and I can't wait to be in the big Games. Especially with my new allies.
