Hayden Nightlook - District Three

Dylan, Tucker, and I set up in one of the houses. We picked the best looking one, it was hard since most of them weren't too nice. It's medium sized and there's barely anything in it. We put our supplies in one corner and laid out our sleeping bags in the middle. Right now we're sitting around a small fire we made to warm up. We didn't get much food, so we're surviving off small rations of food.

We all jump up when we hear a noise coming from outside. We walk outside. We hear it again so we begin walking around the other houses. "It's coming from this house," Tucker says, pointing to a house close to us. We walk inside, and sitting on the floor is a girl.

We look at each other in alarm. What the hell is a girl doing here?!

The girl sees us and quickly jumps up and backs away. "Why are you here?" Asks Dylan. "Uh...I...um," she stutters. "What's your name?" I ask. Apple. Apple Aller," she answers quietly. Her name matches her appearance. She has beautiful long wavy dark red hair and bright green eyes.

"Could we know why you're here?" I try again. "I...I was planted here by the Capitol," she whispers. "Why did they plant you here?" Tucker wonders. "To kill people," she replies. We all back away fast. "Don't worry I won't kill you. I don't want to kill people. I had no choice to be planted here," Apple says. "Why should we trust you?" Questions Dylan. "I don't know. But I want to help you," Apple says. "Okay let us talk about," I say.

Dylan, Tucker, and I huddle together. "I trust her. I think we should let her explain her story but I think we should stick with her," I say. "Me too," Tucker agrees. "Fine," says Dylan. We turn back to Apple. "We've decided to be with you," I tell her. She smiles. We walk back to our house and sit around the fire.

"What district are you from?" I question Apple. "Originally District Twelve. My grandfather is President Aller. We moved in with him when we didn't have much money left," Apple says quietly. "Then the boy's Game began. He started talking about adding a twist to the Games, make it more exciting. He suggested they plant me in the Games, and my task was to kill people to get the Games going faster. He wasn't happy about five deaths during the bloodbath. My parents didn't want me to go in, but my grandfather didn't care. He sent me in and now I'm here. And I don't want to kill. But if I'm here, why don't I help people?" Apple finishes.

"I'm so sorry," I say to her. I feel really bad. Apple smiles. "Thanks." I smile back. I like Apple, I'm glad we found her. I'm especially glad we found her, other people probably would've just killed her without van knowing why she's there.

"What things did you get from the Cornucopia?" Asks Apple. "Not much, just one backpack," answers Dylan. "Oh. What's in it?" She wonders. "A little food, some water, warm clothes, a first aid kit, and sleeping bags," Tucker says. Apple nods. "I'm starving, could we have some food?" She asks. Tucker reaches into the bag and grabs some apples and greens. We spilt them amongst us.

"So, I was sent here to kill. Obviously I don't want to do that. But my grandfather said if I don't at least make one kill he'll do something horrible to me and my family. Do you think we could just kill one person? Please. Do this for me," Apple asks. Dylan, Tucker, and I look at each other. I wasn't planning on killing anyone, but...

"I'll do it," I tell Apple. Apple smiles big, then looks pleadingly to Dylan and Tucker.

"I don't know. Like I said, how do we know if we can trust you or not?" Dylan asks. I glare at him. I trust Apple completely. I mean she could be evil and stab us in the back (literally or figuratively), but I really think she's nice and we should help.

"Please trust me. I just need to protect me and my family. I really want to go home to them." Apple looks from me to Dylan to Tucker with tears in her eyes. "I...I think we should help Apple," Tucker says.

"Thank you," Apple says, smiling. "Dylan?" I ask. "Hmm?" He says. "What do you think?" I question. "Fine, let's help," he replies. "Yes!" I exclaim, pumping my fist in the air. Everybody looks at me, confused. "Uhm, I mean..." I lower my fist, embarrassed.

"Glad too see you're excited to help!" Apple says, her cheeks turning slightly pink. "I am excited," I tell her, smiling. "We ready to start?" She asks. We all nod. "Who do you think we should kill? I mostly forget names but I remember faces from the interviews," Apple says. "What about Mitchell from District Ten?" I suggest. "What does he look like?" Apple questions. "Tall, curly brown hair?" Dylan offers. "Ohhh, right. Okay," Apple says. "Is he in an alliance?" "I don't know. We didn't do training together but he did mention talking to Hudson and Theo from District Six. He could be with them," Tucker replies. I forgot him and Mitchell are from the same district.

"None of us has seen Mitchell yet," Tucker tells Apple. She nods. "Maybe we could carefully 'travel' the arena. We could look for the different alliances, we would obviously have to be super careful that we don't die or get seen," Apple suggests. The rest of us agree.

"Can you use any weapons?" Dylan questions Apple. "Yeah back when I lived in 12 I would practice my archery skills and getting animals. But I haven't seen any animals to hunt plus we don't have a bow and arrow," she responds. We nod.

"Why don't we start travelling tomorrow," I suggest. "Sure," everyone else agrees. Well Apple and Tucker. Dylan doesn't say anything.
