~Training-Day One~

Cedar Croymes - District Eight

"Cedar! Time for breakfast!" The escort, Daisy Driller, exclaims, tapping on my door. I quickly get up, get dressed, and then head down. I don't see anyone else except Daisy and some Avoxes setting out plates and food. As I sit down, Daisy jumps up.

"Help yourself to some food, dear. I'm just going to get Ashton," she tells me, and with a flourish she turns and walks down the hall.

I grab a plate and fill it will a roll, ham, eggs, and a muffin. I also get a cup of warm brown stuff. I try it and it's delicious. I drink the whole cup and then move onto my food.

Soon, Daisy arrives back with Ashton, the other District Eight tribute. They both join me at the table and get some food. Our mentor, Clyde, soon comes in as well. I finish my eggs and take a bite out of my warm muffin.

"So today is the first day of training. Visit as much stations as you can," Clyde tells Ashton and I. We nod.

After breakfast we head to our rooms until Daisy calls us down. We ride the elevator to the last floor.

"Good luck," Clyde tells us, and they ride back up while we head into the Training Center. Here we go.

Maverick Liver - District Two

The Training Center is huge. There's every station imaginable. The head trainer, Ivana, explains and talks about a few things, and then we get to visit the stations. Oliver (my fellow tribute) and I stick together.

The first station we visit is ax-throwing. We get axes and then throw them at targets. Oliver and I both do pretty well, but a few times the leader of the station helps us with our form or the way we're throwing it. I go first, and when Oliver is going, I look around at the other tributes.

Ashton and Cedar are at archery nearby. Cedar reminds me of younger brother Maxon. I miss him a lot. We have a good relationship as brothers, and it's hard begin away from him.

After Oliver and I go one last time, we move onto the station next to us, fire-starting. I already know how to make one, so I show the leader how I do it. He nods and says I did a good job. While he shows Oliver how to make one, I make another for practice. A few fires later, we move onto fishhooks.

"I've never made one of these before," I admit to the head trainer Alina. "Well that's okay, I'll show you how to make a fishhook out of just about anything," Alina replies. For the next little while, Alina shows us how. We make three each to practice.

"Good job!" Alina tells Oliver and I, watching us as we work. I'm glad we visited this station because I know how to fish so then if I can make fishhooks and get fish to eat in the arena. That would be a good way to get food, since my weapon is a spear which you can't really get food with.

After we're done fishhooks, it's time for lunch. We eat lunch in a room attached to the Training Center. All the tributes have to eat there. Oliver and I sit next to each other. We decide to be allies, since we're already doing training together.

"I can make shelters and fish," Oliver tells me. "Nice, I can use a spear," I say back. We're talking about if we're going to run to the Cornucopia or not when the District One tributes, Calvin Jameson and Jonah Bellamai, approach us.

"Hey," Jonah says. "We were wondering if you wanted to join alliances and become one big alliance," Calvin asks. I look over at Oliver, who nods and mouths, Let's do it. I turn back to Calvin and Jonah.

"Okay, we'll do it," I say. Calvin and Jonah both smile. They pull their chairs over and sit across from us. "We were just talking about our weapons/strengths," Oliver tells them.

"Mine is a bow and arrow," Calvin says. "I can fish and get edible things," Jonah says. "My weapon is a spear," I add. "I can fish as well and make shelters," Oliver says. "Hey, we should probably head back to training now," Calvin says, and we all look up to see most of the tributes getting up to go back and train.
We stand up and head to a station together.
