"ok elle, wanna play one more round?" you asked your little sister ellis as she nodded excitedly. the two of you were playing catch together in the backyard and you were of course winning because you were taller.
right now you were supposed to be cleaning your room and doing your laundry, but you were trying to avoid that at all costs. so instead you came outside to play with your sister.
you threw the ball one last time and she didn't catch it, instead it hit her on the head. when she realized she had been hit, it was automatic tears. you quickly went up to her and shushed her so that your parents wouldn't blame you for making her cry.
"shhh! ellie i'm sorry ok, it was an accident ok?" you continued to shush her, but it wasn't working. she wailed as you stood there not knowing what to you.
"y-you hurt m-my h-h-head!" ellis said through her cries causing you to roll your eyes.
"yeah i know what happened, okay?" you rubbed her head as you looked behind you then looked back to ellis. "just stop crying, okay? you're gonna get me in trouble!" you begged your sister, which just made it worse.
"mommy! y/n hurt me and yelled at me!" ellis ran inside your house to tattle on you to your parents.
"bye!" you quickly sprinted upstairs when she ran to your parents. you really weren't trying to get in trouble, so you ran in your room and shut the door instead. you were almost positive that the coast was clear, until you heard your mom calling you from downstairs.
"y/n! get down here please!" you heard your mom call. you groaned as you held your head back in frustration.
"damn it!" you mumbled while you trotted down the stairs. you walked towards the living room where your parents were sitting on the couch. ellis was cuddled in your dad's arms while your mom was sitting with bailey in her lap.
"why did you hit your sister in the head?" your dad looked up at you while he rubbed ellis' head. you sighed as you crossed your arms, ready to defend yourself.
"it was an accident! i wouldn't do that on purpose." you were quick to defend yourself for two reasons. one, your parents always took your younger siblings' side. anytime zola, ellis, or bailey wanted something they would definitely get it before you. two, it really was an accident. you didn't want your parents to think you were some monster who just went around hitting little girls in the head on purpose.
"ok, well she says you shouted at her too. was that an accident?" your mom looked you in the eye, which always made you kind of nervous.
"well in my defense it was less of me shouting and more of her crying." you told your parents before the immediately shot you a look that said to cut it out.
