summary: (Y/N) has already came out to her dad, but she's having a hard time telling him that she has a girlfriend

it's been about 3 months since (Y/N) has fully come out officially to her dad, her friends, and everyone who she was close to. it's been a rollercoaster of figuring herself out, but she was so proud of the journey that she's been on. everyone was supportive of you, but nevertheless (Y/N) was still incredibly nervous to tell her dad that she had a girlfriend.
(Y/N) didn't know how she was gonna do this. she didn't know if she should plan something out to tell him, or maybe write him a letter. hell, she don't even know if she was totally overthinking this: so she went to seek advice from the two people who would probably give it best right now.

"what's the big deal? i say you just straight up tell him. rip off the bandaid." arizona popped a grape in her mouth. (Y/N) had gone over to arizona and callie's neighboring apartment to ask them advice on how she should tell her dad about her new girlfriend.
"WOAH, WOAH WOAH! i definitely don't think that's how you should approach this..." callie wagged her finger, expressing her disagreement with arizona.
"oh really? so then how should she approach it then "ms. knowitall?"" arizona raised a sarcastic eyebrow at callie, earning a giggle from (Y/N).
"well i think she should break it to him gently, so that he doesn't...you know have a heart attack." callie took a grape from arizona.
"why would he have a heart attack? it's not like he doesn't already know she's gay! this isn't like your dad calliope, where---!" arizona started before you cut her off
"wait what happened with your dad?" (Y/N) raised an inquisitive eyebrow, curious as to what happened between callie and her father.
arizona eyed callie, asking for permisson to share: which was quickly denied by callie who just returned a shake of the head to arizona.
"uhhh that's a story for another time----! anyways! when were you planning on telling him?" callie asked the teenager.
"well i wanted to tell him today, but----" (Y/N) started, but was interrupted by a knock at callie and arizona's front door.
"hey (Y/N)! dinner will be ready in 10 alright?" (Y/N) heard her father shout from outside the door.
"uhm o-ok!" (Y/N) stuttered out, which caused callie and arizona to both let out a cringing face.
"oh baby you're a nervous wreck..." callie opened her arms to embrace (Y/N) in a hug. (Y/N) hugged callie back as she let her nerves settle a bit. her plan was now to tell him over dinner. that would work right?
