Chapter 4: Clarke, Ash and Lexa

After what happened with Mar, it didn’t take long for Abby to marry Jake. In fact, she married him that same year and she became Mrs. Abigail Griffin and after a few years she became Dr. Abigail Griffin. She and Jake had a beautiful baby girl with blue eyes and blonde hair. Clarke Griffin Smith was born three years after their marriage and Abby was overjoyed. She loved her family and she did love Jake but was never in love with him. He treated her with respect, kindness and love and Abby reciprocated but always at the back of her mind and deep down in her heart she could never forget her . Maria was the first person she fell in love with and the only person she will ever love and Jake knew this. He didn't expect Abby to fall madly in love with him, but at least he wanted her to give him a chance which she did. She told him many times she loved him and he believed her. She never once cheated on him and he loved her even more, but he knew he would never truly possess her heart; it had another owner. After Clarke's birth, he gave her the opportunity to leave, but Abby adamantly said, "No, you and Clarke are my family and I belong here," and so, he didn't insist.

What Jake didn't know was that Abby indeed went to look for Maria but when she saw her at Mecha Station, Maria was holding hands with another alpha and in her other arm was a baby about two years old. She watched as the alpha bent down to kiss Mar and she wrapped her arm tightly around the alpha's neck and grinned as their lips met. Jealousy erupted inside Abby; she let out a small snarl and she wanted to walk towards him and beat the hell out of him but then she realized she had absolutely no right to commit such an act. Mar wasn't hers anymore. Mar could do whatever she wanted, see whoever she wanted, love whoever she wanted and Abby felt broken, devastated. She let out a tiny whimper but before she could turn to leave, she heard the alpha say, with amusement and happiness in his voice, "My little girl!" Abby saw as the alpha bent down and kissed the baby girl on her forehead and happily raised the baby in his arms. She had light brown eyes, Mar's hair and skin colour. A lone tear fell from Abby's eye and she whined a little as she saw the alpha wrap his other arm around Maria. Deep down, she knew that Maria had a right to move on and apparently she had. Abby walked away.

From then on, Abby dedicated her life only to Jake and Clarke. She tried desperately to fall in love with him but she never could so she decided to just love him for who he was.

During those years, Abby became good friends with Rose Kane, Marcus Kane's wife and mate. Rose was a geneticist and when Abby became the Chief Medical Doctor of the Ark, Rose was also promoted as the Medical Director of the Ark Medical Station. She was basically second in command to Abby. Marcus was a councilor and also the main head of security. As for Ashley, Marcus and Rose's child, she began showing interest in engineering, so she became Jake's shadow; always following him and asking him questions. Ashley was almost every week at the Griffin's residence as Jake had taken it upon himself to teach her the basics of engineering. He had wanted Clarke to join them but she preferred spending time with Abby in the Med Bay since she had expressed an interest in becoming a doctor just like her mom. Abby of course was ecstatic. As the years passed, Clarke and Ashley both presented as omegas and became friends even though Ash as she was called often by friends and family was two years older than Clarke. Ash often spoke with Clarke about her best friend Raven, who wanted to become a zero-G mechanic. She was the same age as Ash and Clarke felt that she somehow knew Raven just as much as Ash. Ash had promised Clarke that one day, she’ll introduce her to Raven. Ash also spoke of Bellamy, her friend. He was her mom’s best friend's child. Of course, he was older than her by three years and was now training to become an Ark guard. She had told Clarke that Bellamy was like a big brother and Raven was like a sister. The three of them were good friends. Clarke had told her that she'd love to meet them someday to which Ash responded in kind telling her that she'd be happy to introduce them. As for Clarke, her friend was Wells Jaha, the Chancellor’s son. She had other acquaintances but she regarded him as her closest friend.
