On a cold, wintry day, the triad walked around town. Clarke and Octavia were going to leave for Arkadia in the next hour or so but for the moment, they walked with their mate through the market. On this particular day, Octavia's eyes were roaming all around; she had thought of a romantic dinner for her mates. She wanted to show them how much in love she was with them. Lexa was now eight months one week pregnant and could barely see her feet. At night, Clarke or Octavia would massage her feet and back since the twins were getting heavier and this caused her back to hurt a little. Clarke on the other hand was five months two weeks pregnant and her little baby bump was already showing a little.
As had become custom for the Pureblood and sire to be, every night before they went to sleep, Octavia would speak to her pups; she'd tell them stories of myths and legends, heroes and gods and sometimes, she would even hum for them. Naturally, her mates would join her with their purrs and soon after, Octavia would start to rumble in her chest. Abby had told them that speaking with the pups would help the twins recognize their voice when they were born. Clarke had told them the same thing. With every story she told them, her eyes would twinkle with excitement and Lexa and Clarke couldn't be more happy that Octavia was their alpha. They could already see the love she had for her children and for them.
Sometimes, Lexa couldn't help but think, what if Costia hadn't died? Would she be her mate? Would she have already given the alpha children? Would she still feel the mate call with Clarke and Octavia? Would they? Would she have left Costia for them or stayed with the alpha out of duty? So many questions and no answers were needed because the truth was that Costia was gone and maybe things happened for a reason because the love she feels for Clarke and Octavia is more stronger than what she ever felt for Costia. She didn't miss Costia as much but that didn't mean she forgot about her first love. No, when Lexa thought of Costia, she thought of only the happy times they had; of their childhood and teenage years and how they fell in love but now, every waking moment for the omega was filled with thoughts of Clarke, Octavia and her twins.
Still, sometimes she would dream of the alpha. She'd see them walking together in the forest, just as they did many times when they were younger. She would see them talking but she couldn't hear what they were saying and always, Costia would smile at her; her light green eyes would shine as bright as ever and always, just always the only thing she would remember vividly of her dream with the alpha was Costia placing a kiss on her forehead. Lexa thought that maybe that was Costia's way of letting her know that she was fine and happy and for all of those things, Lexa was grateful to her first love. She now knew with certainty that this was Costia's way of letting her go; of blessing her relationship with Clarke and Octavia, of Lexa finding love again and the Luna couldn't be happier with the life she has because these two women have transformed her life into something beautiful and wonderful just as she had done for them as well.
Their pups' room was already prepared. It was set a little further down the hall and in the weeks that passed, Lexa was not content with the location. She wanted her pups' room to be close to the master bedroom and so she opted for slightly remodelling their home. In the end, Lexa had Lisa and a few other builders expand the master bedroom by building an addition to the side of their room. It was big enough to accommodate two cribs, two changing tables and a dresser that was stacked with the baby clothes Octavia had sewn and still had room for a little play area for when the pups were old enough.
After leaving their mate, Clarke and Octavia made their way towards Arkadia in their ride. While Clarke was studying, Octavia walked around the compound of Arkadia and admired her people's work and dedication. Some of the former Arkers were in their makeshift classroom learning Trigedasleng while others were outside in the cold, training. From a distance away, she heard the whirring of drills and saws as more homes were being built.
