Chapter 49: Preparing

For the next three days, Octavia and Clarke undergo heavy training. Indra and her family notice the sudden change and so Lincoln asks the Alpha why the sudden change. Having not told them about Lexa's pregnancy, Titus offers a different reason.

"It's because they are eager to claim each other and I don't want to hinder that especially since it was their idea," Titus answered, even though it was his idea but none of the three mates argued against his point so technically, it was also their idea or at least they consented to it.

Even Bellamy and his mates, the Purebloods and their mates also notice but given the explanation, they do not see anything wrong with it. Octavia has told her brother repeatedly how happy she is with her mates and has expressed her undeniable joy when she claims them.

As for the others, they continue their basic training with Indra and her family. Even Anya and Fay train the Purebloods and their mates although they cannot interfere with Bellamy's training.

On the third night, having invited Bellamy and his mates over for dinner, Octavia and her mates say they have something important to tell them.

"What is it?" Anya asks, her eyes shifting from Lexa to Clarke to Octavia. She wonders if something is wrong but the smile that is plastered on her little sister's face relaxes her immensely.

"It's nothing to worry about so relax," Clarke tells her and Anya nods but looks expectantly at her sister then Lexa says, "I'm with pup."

Silence fills the room for a second and then Fay is the first to jump and clap. Anya simply looks at Lexa while Bellamy looks at Octavia. Both younger mates wait expectantly for their older siblings' reaction. "Maybe they just have to digest it a little?" Sky suggests and O responds, "Yeah, I think so too."

As for Anya, she looks at her sister and in the mere ten seconds of silence that passes between them, flashbacks of their lives race through the older omega's mind. She remembers Lexa and herself at a young age, playing in the river, playing in the forest, training together, arguing and even their excited expressions when Ava told them that she was expecting twins. Even Lexa's sad demeanor when Costia went missing and the realization when their nontu had to kill her to save Anya. All of these moments, these experiences - some bad but mostly good flash before her mind and she realizes not for the first time but for more times that she can count, that sitting before her is not only her little sister but also a woman who has found love in two extraordinary women and now bears the fruit of that love. Inside Lexa, a small being grows and it is a wonderful feeling Anya feels. When she comes out of her reverie, she notices Fay hugging Clarke and Octavia so she gets up and pulls her little sister towards her and gives her a kiss on her forehead.

"I'm so happy for you, sistris. May you always be happy with your family," Anya tells Lexa and the younger omega could hear the sincerity and emotion in her older sister's voice. "Thank you Anya," is Lexa's simple but gratuitous response and hugs her sister tightly towards her.

During Anya's reverie, Bellamy was also having flashbacks of his life with Octavia when she was younger. He remembers the day she was born, how he helped deliver her when she came out of Aurora. How Aurora had told him that it was now his responsibility as well to take care of his little sister. He took the responsibility seriously and vowed many times over that no matter what, he'll always be Octavia's protector.

Since the day they landed on the ground, he has protected her and he knows he always will but he realizes again, not for the first time, that Octavia is growing up fast. Not only has she changed physically and mentally but also emotionally. Since meeting Clarke and then Lexa, Octavia is not the innocent little girl that was locked up in the Sky Box many months ago. She is different; she is better, smarter and more complete than ever before.
