Mar makes her way out of Earth Monitoring Station leaving the tablet with Abby. She goes back to work but all she thinks about is the knowledge that Abby couldn’t see her daughter for more than a year. She does her best to concentrate on work but at the end of the day, while sitting alone on her bed, her mind still wanders to Abby and this urge to look for her is immense but she tries to ignore it and fails miserably.

Deciding to get over the anxiety of Abby’s time lost with her daughter, Mar goes in search of the alpha. When she arrives at Ark Medical Station and inquires for Abby she’s told that the chief medical doctor has retired for the night. She’s asked if she needs anything but she says it's not urgent and it can wait for tomorrow. She decides to go back home but still, this urge; this need to seek out the alpha is so overwhelming, she unconsciously starts heading to Abby’s place rather than her own.

Standing in front of her door, she raises her hand to knock but then brings it down. “Oh, this is a bad idea,” she mutters to herself. She forces her feet to turn and walk away when the door suddenly opens and Abby asks, apprehensively, “Mar? Is everything okay?”
Mar jumps and gives out a tiny squeal.

“Yeah, yeah everything’s okay. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to disturb you, it's just that I wanted to know what Marcus and Rose said regarding the video,” Mar lies.

“Oh! Um come in,” Abby says nervously as she moves from the front door to let Mar pass. Doubtfully, Mar goes inside. Abby’s place is similar to hers except that it’s more; more furniture, more amenities, “But hey, that’s what comes with being a Purebred and a Councilor,” Mar mumbles to herself.

Abby motions for her to sit on the sofa and she does while Abby sits down in front. “I left the tablet with them and they said they were gonna watch it and have it ready for tomorrow since there will be a Council meeting,” Abby informs her.

“Okay, good. Do you think the Council will agree with the three of you?” Mar asks, wanting to extend their conversation while thinking of a way to ask Abby about Clarke.

Abby shrugs and says, “I don’t know but I hope so. We won’t survive for long Mar. We only have about four months of oxygen so something has to be done within that time frame.” Mar just shakes her head in understanding.
They say nothing for a few minutes but the silence is too much and Abby asks, “Is there anything else you wanted to ask?” Mar simply replies, “No…. uh thanks for your time. I’ll go so you can rest,” and quickly gets up but before she can take a step forward Abby tells her, “Mar, I can see in your eyes that you want to ask something. Whatever it is, I’m right here. Ask me and I’ll answer to the best of my knowledge.”

Mar looks around avoiding Abby’s eyes because those brown orbs are making her extremely nervous and she just wants to lose herself in Abby’s scent. After a few moments she finds the courage to finally ask. “Um, yes there’s something I want to ask you and you can tell me it's none of my business and I’ll respect that,” she says softly. Taking a deep breath after watching Abby nod her head she finally asks, “Why did you say that it’s been more than a year since you’ve seen your daughter?”

She sees Abby take a sharp breath and motions for her to sit back down on the sofa. “When Jake and Ash discovered that the life support systems were failing, Jake made a video about his findings. He thought that the people deserved to know the truth but the Council thought the opposite. They said that if the people found out there would be mass hysteria and so Jake didn’t release it. After his death, Clarke couldn’t deal with her father's loss so she took the video and tried to upload it through the computer mainframe but was caught. She was underage so she couldn’t be floated and was placed in solitary confinement in Lockup. I was prohibited from seeing her because the Council reasoned that if we spoke, I might finish what she started. Of course I told them that I wouldn’t. I pleaded with them to let me at least speak with her for a few minutes before she was placed in solitary but they vehemently denied. I haven’t seen my baby since last year. I go through all the motions but I’m dead inside Mar. I don’t have her and I want to hold her in my arms and tell her I love her and never let her go but I can’t. When the Council decided to send a 100 juveniles to the ground I asked, no, I pleaded that Clarke be on it because I knew that when she turned 18 and was still in Lockup, she would be floated and I would lose my child forever. I couldn’t allow that so I decided I’d rather have her live and be far away from me knowing that I may never see her again than have here with me and watch as she gets floated,” Abby said, tearfully. Her eyes were red and tears were rolling down her face. She buries her face in her hands and weeps silently.
