Aurora Blake, a seamstress from Factory Station, age 20 a beta is married to Bellamy Locke, an alpha from Mecha Station. They’re in love and she is about to give birth to their baby boy. He is very gentle and tender with her. On the day she gave birth, Bellamy, an electronics tech, was in Mecha Station when his supervisor told him that Aurora was being taken to Ark Medical Station. Bellamy was excited so he asked to leave so that he could be by his wife’s side. Once permission was granted, he was making his way to Med Bay when his supervisor radioed him back that one of the components he was fixing isn't working. Knowing that it could be a simple patch work he hurried back to finish his duty. While fixing the component, Bellamy didn’t realize that a flammable liquid had started leaking and slowly making its way to some highly flammable wires. When he heard the sparks and realized what was happening, he sealed himself in the room to prevent the explosion from spreading further. Before he died, he told his supervisor to tell Aurora that he loves her.

Aurora was confused because she was waiting for her husband so that he could be there when their child was born but he never made it. When she finally knew what had happened, Aurora was in denial. She didn’t want to accept that her mate, the father of her child was truly gone. It was a good thing, that her best friend, Rose, who was recently mated to Marcus Kane was there by her side. She had often thought every now and then why Rose, a Purebred omega, considered her a friend. It’s true that their mothers were friends but Aurora simply thought that it was like that because her mom helped Mrs. McGowan in her duties as head nurse. It’s true that Aurora’s mom, a beta, wasn't a nurse, no she simply helped every now and then when she wasn’t needed at Hydro Station. Rose was a Purebred and those kinds of people didn’t associate with the rest simply because they were the Elite class. Rose simply told her, “It doesn’t matter what your social status is, what matters is the person you are; the kind of spirit that makes you, you.” That was the beginning of their friendship and now, Aurora was so appreciative of her friendship with Rose. So, it wasn’t a surprise when Rose helped Aurora with little Bellamy Blake while Aurora slowly accepted Bellamy’s death. She didn’t give him his father’s surname because she didn’t think it was necessary, after all, her husband was dead and his surname wouldn’t make a difference either and really no one questioned her, so she just gave him her surname.

However, Aurora harbours a secret that only Rose knows. The thing is, Aurora isn’t a beta as everyone thinks, no, Aurora Blake is an alpha but her development didn’t occur as it should have. Rose’s father, who was the Chief Medical Doctor at the time, had discovered her true origin a few months after she presented. At the age of 15 when a person presents their designation, Aurora did but it wasn’t apparent. She woke up feeling a little bit of pain, it was an uncomfortable pain but very minor, so she didn’t make a big issue out of it. As the days passed and not having a change in her scent or genitals, she was declared to be a beta. So, life continued for her until her first rut hit. That day, she woke up highly aroused and feeling uncomfortable between her legs, so she decided to take a shower but as she took off her clothes and stepped into the shower to start scrubbing her body, she felt a little protrusion between her legs. When she looked down there was a small for lack of a better word, penis barely peeking out of her folds. Naturally, she became frightened and screamed for her mother. When her mother opened the bathroom door scared out of her mind that something was happening to her daughter, she found Aurora in a sitting position with her knees up to her chin and sobbing. When she called out for her daughter, Aurora raised her head and said crying and trembling,  “Mom, I don’t know what is happening to me. I have something between my legs.” When her mother managed to coax Aurora to stand up and saw the protrusion she frowned her eyebrows and said nervously, “I think it’s best we go see the doctor.” As they made their way to the doctor, Aurora got more and more nervous. When they made it to the doctor’s office, Dr. John McGowan, Rose’s father, attended to them. After explaining the situation, Dr. McGowan had a perplexed look on his face. His mind was racing, wondering what it could all mean. Not sure of the situation, he asked to run a blood test on Aurora.
