12. Kaida

Kaida is the second in command of the Skyhawks and Ace's middle daughter and Kira, Jayde, Rocket, Jason, Ivy,  and Feather's sister. Next to Aasira, she is the dual protagonist of the series. She has long sleek black hair and dark blue eyes. She has an energy sword powered by a rare blue dragon crystal, an energy crossbow that shoots the energy of the crystal that it's powered by, and an energy whip powered by a fire crystal. She rides Downpour and her dragon instead of a skimmer. She also owned a battle glider but gave it to Spark when she gained the ability to turn into a wolf and a dragon. She is an expert acrobat and her signature move is the Firestorm aka the Phoenix blast. Her catchphrase is "Firebird!"

Kaida is affable, feisty, brave, headstrong, daring, and stunning.  As a child, Kaida was greatly frightened by her father due to his evil nature, prompting her to attempt to run away from Cyclonia along with her friends. However, she never sums up the nerve. One evening, Kaida looks around her father's room for Apello. She sees a medulla crystal and examines it carefully. Suddenly, Ace catches her and shouts her name, startling her and she drops the crystal, breaking it. Both confused and furious, Ace gets angry with Kaida. Frightened by an outburst by her father, Kaida hides in her room shaken up, thinking she had lost her father's love. She overhears a heated conversation between her father and Cyclonis which makes her more afraid for herself. After, Ace decides to reconcile with Kaida, the former realizing he'd scared Kaida for no reason. At first the girl was terrified that her father would hit her, but was comforted when the latter apologizes. Kaida and her friends are later kidnapped but escape into the wastelands and rescued by the Storm Hawks. Years later, Kaida reunites with her father and siblings while trapped in a burning building.

Kaida and Aasira are good friends and show a close bond.

Kaida and Pramesh show having mutual feelings for each other.

Kaida and Kieran are half cousins and close childhood friends.

She is shown to be greatly respected and loved by the rest of her team.

Baron is Kaida's pet caladrius and both love each other dearly.

Kaida loves Coldfront but can get a little annoyed by her overprotectiveness.

Kaida is the only member of the Skyhawks that finds Downpour adorable.

Kaida was terrified of her father as a child and had very negative encounters with him but when he found her after 5 years of looking for her, the two bond.

She was and is loving and compassionate to her brother Feather who was also emotionally distant from his father. The two share a close and strong bond.

Kira and Kaida share a close bond with each other with the former protecting and defending her sister fiercely against their father and other threats.

Kaida and her younger sister Jayde share a close bond both as children and teens. 

Kaida didn't like Swan because she thought that her father and Swan would run off together and would abandon her and her siblings and became jealous. After talking to both adults and her friends, Kaida accepted Swan as a friend but is still wary of her.

Trivia:

Kaida's name means Little Dragon, nodding towards her mythical creature form.

Kaida is the only Skyhawk to have more than one weapon of choice.

She also has a hydraulic grappling hook attached to her left arm.

The firestorm is the most lethal signature move in Atmos, being able to kill both user and victim! How she got this is a mystery.

Kaida was the first Cyclonian child to be introduced.

Kaida is the only member of the Skyhawks who had an abusive parent.

Kaida is the most skilled member of the Skyhawks.

She is also the best singer on the team.

Kaida is the first character to have a lethal signature move.

Kaida's mother is implied to have been Swan.

Ace is responsible for Kaida's emotional control problems (hitting her at a young age that she and scaring her to near death, emotionally scarring her).

Her eyes turn red when she's about to do the Firestorm.

Her pupils shrink when she gets scared, shocked, or ready for a fight. They dilate back when she becomes normal.

Whenever she starts panicking or becomes overly stressed about something, Kaida begins to glow orange and her eyes change to red. If she calms down, she goes back to normal but if she doesn't, the energy forms an explosion and she faints.
