Black Spade is a young Talon soldier and Asteria's second in command. She has black hair and red eyes like Ace but reveals she fights using a firebolt crystal which had the same effect on her normal appearance as it did for Ace. The Black Spade fought with a sword powered with the firebolt crystal. She could also turn into a large black cougar and a wyvern.
Black Spade is very cocky and snide. She enjoys teasing and harassing her victims to distract them. She is also suave and has a sense of seduction. However, her charms don't work on the three squadrons (regarding Finn of course). Despite this, Black Spade appears to have more of a playful banter than just plain evil.
Black Spade used to hate Ace and was a fierce rival for him. After learning Asteria was going to betray her, Black Spade turned to Ace and his friends for help.
Kaida and Aasira were also fierce rivals for The Black Spade.
Black Spade only interacted with Rami once and it was rather pleasant. The creature is seen rubbing her head against the mercenary's leg in greeting. Black Spade picks her up and asks if she belonged to the Skyhawks. After Thea answers yes, Black Spade allows Rami to leap to her master's arm.
Black Spade was a child when she was adopted and raised by Shadow Stalk and was devastated upon hearing of her death.

The Black Spade is named after the card spade.
It is theorized that the Black Spade is actually Ace's female dimensional counterpart. A hint is when Black Spade has a brief conversation with Zephyr about her name;
(Zephyr): Who are you, some type of super warrior?
(Black Spade): I am called The Black Spade.
(Zephyr): So...you're like the female version of the Dark Ace?
(Black Spade): You could say that. Atmos is filled with freaky things.
The Black Spade is also the first redeemed villain who isn't from Storm Hawks.
It's not stated what her real name is.
She's presumably Shadow Stalk's only adopted human child.
The Black Spade has shown kindness twice in the show
1. She allows Thea to take back her pet ramidregu, Rami.
2. She betrays Asteria to save her home, Terra Hallows.
It's theorized The Black Spade is related to Ace somehow.
