Algae is a kelpie and Hilda's pet. She has dark teal slimy skin, fish fins on her side and dorsal fin as a light teal mane and bright yellow eyes. Her tail is similar to seaweed and webbed feet like a frog but with tiny claws.
It was love at first sight for Hilda and Algae. The young raptor finds her future soulmate trapped in a small tank. Excited to see her favorite mythical beast, Hilda breaks the tank and frees the kelpie. Confused but grateful, Algae allows Hilda to pet her. She continues to help her savior from that day forth.
Algae is very playful and mischievous but also protective and loyal. She loves Hilda dearly and likes to nuzzle her friend.
Trivia:
Algae's name comes from the swampy areas kelpies are known to live in.
Her pupils turn to tiny slits when she's swimming or fighting.
Unlike other kelpies, Algae can's shape shift but she can make her voice sound like any other animal.
She can't be out of water for more than a few hours, the inspiration for the team making a pool. Hilda and Aasira get angry at Thea and Jonay turning the pool into a hot chocolate pool with marshmallow floaties, possibly for the health of Algae.
