20. Harpy

Harpy is Kieran's pet griffin. She is a subspecies of griffin called night griffins, easily identifiable by her black fur/feathers and bright luminous blue eyes. Harpy's wings are large and feathery, making it easy for her to fly while carrying something in her talons or someone on her back. She has lion legs, paws, and tail with massive retractable eagle talons for claws.

Harpy is a young griffin who will fiercely protect others at her own expense. She is very beautiful, strong hearted, and bold. She is a fearless warrior and a protective friend. She is also caring and playful. Since she acts so much like a domesticated dog or cat, you can even forget she's a dangerous creature. Harpy is considered to be highly intelligent and mischievous. Harpy is shot and briefly killed by a nightcrawler assassin but using his magical abilities, Kieran's able to revive her.

Kieran is Harpy's Master. She is not afraid to defend him or any of the other Skyhawks. She loves her master more than her own life.

Harpy is seen diving and rescuing her fellow Skyhawks when their sky rides are destroyed. Mostly Thea and Finn.

Sonar and Harpy are very close friends and are seen getting into trouble a lot.

Harpy is also very close to Ryder (being his possible love interest), Sonar's siblings, Wildfire, Baron, and the other mythical creatures.

Harpy and Cyclonis got to a bad start upon their first meeting. After Cyclonis discovers her son with the Storm Hawks, she confronts him, Piper, and Pramesh. However, Harpy comes and shields them from her. Cyclonis steps too close to the group causing the griffin to pin her down in defense. Kieran persuades his pet to release her. After Cyclonis turns good, Harpy forms a close bond with her.

Trivia:

Harpy's name refers to her loud raspy shrieking call that sounds like that of a Harpy.

Harpy's name was originally Banshee.

Harpy, Baron, Ryder, and Wildfire are the only mythical creatures on the team until the others join.

Harpy is stronger than both Ryder and Wildfire.

Harpy's talons glow when she's about to attack.

Harpy can understand verbal commands and executes them with ease.

She is well trained and is the only mythical creature besides Baron and Wand who can sense her master's emotional changes.

Regarding feather, fur, and eye color, Harpy bears a resemblance to the griffin from the animated short "BuTera".

Harpy is the first character to be revived in the show.

She's also the third Skyhawk to die.
