Zavrina POV
Never in her wildest dreams did she see this coming with Essence. Never did she see this coming with Sherry and Donte. They seemed so perfect, but what did she know?
After they left Essence, they all made it to the MAX house. Sherry would not stop crying and blubbering about how much she loved Donte. That boy did not deserve the time of day. How could he have a whole girl in a down-low relationship right under their noses?
She should have known something was up when Essence came from nowhere and wanted to pledge. If Sherry had not fought hard for her, she would not be on the line, because she was sure as heck did not get her vote.
"I'm supposed to marry Donte!" Sherry was going on and on about Donte. They helped her change into pajamas, but she refused to do much else. They all sat in her room. Jill grabbed a bottle of water and a box of Kleenex and sat it between them on the bed. Zavrina sat on the end of the bed, while Jill sat beside Sherry on the other end of the bed.
"You're better off without him," Jill stated, smoothing back her hair.
Sherry sniffed, her face and eyes reddened. "I love him! Why would you say that?"
Zavrina looked at Jill and rolled her eyes. This was that bullshit. Sherry should not shed a tear over a trifling, cheater like that boy she would not say his name.
"Obviously he doesn't love you or respect you to do this to you," Zavrina told her.
"But...but..."
"He lied and cheated on you soror, there are no buts!" Zavrina had more choice words for that scum, but she would keep them to herself for now.
"LS, you want me to call Kaori and Rosaline? Have your friends come to be with you?"
"You two are my friends! You're my sisters." Sherry held the box of Kleenex, dabbing at her eyes. Makeup and hair were still flawless. If it was her, she probably would look like a wild woman. "We almost let her into our sisterhood."
"Girl, spidey sense was always tingling about that girl," Jill said. "But I just thought she was a downlow hoe, not this. I mean, I guess this makes her that, but with Donte? Oh, he fooled the mess out of us."
"You two swear you didn't know?"
"Come on soror, you know if I knew, I would have beaten his ass on sight," Zavrina said.
"And I was there when you met him, remember? I thought he was perfect for you. Smart, good looking, seemed so nice and low-key."
"It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for," Zavrina added.
"He's not that quiet!" Jill said. "And it's the loud, wild ones you have to watch out for. It's those Alphas, they are all dogs! Like Kenyon! Dogs stick together like a pack of wolves."
Hmmm, that was an interesting thought. Did Kenyon know about Donte and Essence? Of course, he probably did and covered it up as frat brothers do. Did Kenyon also have a whole plaything on the side that he was real smooth about covering up? Even knowing what she now knew about Donte, he still did not seem like the type of guy to be so scandalous.
He held the highest GPA in the fraternity. He never was wild with the girls, hitting on them like crazy. Never seen in public with girls all over him like Kenyon. He kept to himself, and many did not know he was a chess star in high school, was a mathlete, and was Valedictorian of his class.
There lay the problem maybe. He stayed far off-campus so his secret shenanigans were not caught. Being smart and nerdy did not negate him from being a womanizing dog.
