Jill Redmond POV

She did not care what her girls were saying, she was the WHOA-MAN!

Her first class of the day was Topics in Radio Management, and she had to stunt on them. She knew everyone knew who she was and everyone probably listened to her new morning show.

"WHAT'S UP MY PEOPLE! SUPERSONIC IN DA HOUSE!"

There were lots of applause and cheers for her. She did a little strut around the room, as her professor slash mentor just sat back and grinned at her. He let her have her moment, everyone knew she was the Queen of radio since she was a freshman at ISU. Give her all her flowers today, don't wait till tomorrow.

"Yo, big head," her friend and fellow class cut-up said, motioning her to take her seat in the back of the class.

"Yo, Ivey-Ive man, what's good?" She gave him the playful little dap they had done since they met freshman year in Intro to the Study of Communications class. Two taps of the fist, pound on top for each, and a hand clap then a shake. She knew they were lame, but it was all good.

"I see you're going to be trouble this semester."

"This semester? Boy, all year long. You see how my people were loving me? And that's only one day on the radio. Telling you, who gonna beat me now." Jill reached over and grabbed his tablet. "Hey, where's mine at? This for me?"

He snatched his tablet away. "Radio girl, get your own."

Jill dug into her bag and pulled out her tablet. "Bam!"

The class started, but she and Ivan talked the whole class. He talked about his summer home in Chicago. She talked about her exciting summer in St. Louis, interning at Hot 104.1 radio, and learning so much. How to deliver fresh coffee to assholes and run across the street to pick up Subway sandwiches for lazy mofos that did not want to get up off their ass. She was glad to be back in school where she was respected for real work.

She went out for the few radio DJ slots at the Illinois State University student-run radio station WZND. It was very competitive, even so, because there had not been many African American females giving the prime slot of seven to nine in the morning where most students listened before class. Her bubbly and sometimes eccentric personality had won them over.

Taking on the persona as "DJ Supersonic" was an ode to her sorority because that was her pledge name. She wondered why they named her that? Oh yeah, she was loud and spoke at the speed of light. Never one to back down from a conversation, and she always had something to say. She was a neophyte, meaning new to the sorority, but she wanted to be a Mu Alpha Chi since she first learned who they were.

They were not like the typical sorority. They were about social and community service like the others, but their main focus was leadership. MAX took in the best of the best because leadership was not a quality in everyone. She thought she would not make the cut, but she had been in several leadership roles since her freshman year. She served as Gospel Choir President as a sophomore and served as Chair of the Community Service for the Media Club freshman and sophomore year.

Only a junior this year, now she had her own morning show. Not bad for the youngest MAX member. She was only nineteen whereas Zavrina was twenty-one and her line sister Sherry twenty-two. They treated her like a lil kid, but she just brushed it off. She was used to being the youngest, she had an older brother.

But as the youngest, she also was not that experienced when it came to dating...or having a boyfriend. Most girls her age were on their fifth, sixth, or twentieth serious boyfriend. She could count on one hand how many boyfriends she had. Oh wait, that would require no hands.
