Jill POV
She was stuck in a romance book nightmare!
The guy she liked, that had feelings for her in the past, had moved on to a new girl. So many ways to approach this bad dream, but of course she had to do it the Supersonic way.
"I heard you have a girlfriend and you didn't even tell me?" she asked him when he made it to class, a bit late and deshelved looking.
He stared at her for a moment then blinked. "Was I supposed to run that by you?"
"YES!" she yelled out, all eyes turning to them in the back of the room. She gave them all the stank face and they went about their business. "I thought we were friends?"
"We are Jilly, you know that. You were so caught up in Mac, why would you care if I'm seeing somebody?"
She hadn't told Ivan about Mac, and she was too embarrassed to do so now. What good would it do to tell him how stupid she was with a guy she didn't even get to know? Unlike with Ivan, she knew him. After two and a half years of getting to know him, now she was ready for more.
"Well, Mac and I are over." If he still had feelings for her and wanted to be with her, maybe he would dump the girl he was seeing and ask her out again. "Anyway, friend, I want to meet her."
He looked at her a moment, before saying anything again. "Why?"
"Because we're friends!"
"Okay Jill, she's cool. I think you will like her," he said before the professor entered the class and they had to stop talking.
Would she though? She wondered what this little girl was like. Judging by how she talked on the radio, she was young, white, and a sorority girl. Yes, she was stereotyping and could be all wrong, but she wondered what kind of girl Ivan would fall for. Every other girl she remembered him having a thing for fit that mode, so it was odd when he said he had feelings for her.
He texted her while they were in class that he had a swim meet on Saturday morning and that his girlfriend "Malinda" would be there. She rolled her eyes but made sure she responded with an affirmative two thumbs up and a smiley face emoji.
Ivan was on the swim team since freshman year, but she had never gone to a meet. He never invited her. Now she did not know what to wear, or should she come alone, or what was she supposed to do while there. Did you cheer and yell like at a football game? Could they hear in the water?
She told Sherry she was going to see Ivan swim and she laughed at her.
"Uh oh, you much really be catching feelings going to a swim meet. Aaaaw! Finally!"
"WHAT?" She had not told her line sister she liked Ivan now. She was not going to admit it, not if it did not matter anyway. "I'm going to watch my friend swim, that is all."
"Ok, sure."
"Why would you think-"
"Your whole demeanor is different when you talk about him now, and you talk about him a lot! But it's cool, you two are cute together."
"Huh?" They were not even together, how were they cute together? "He has a girlfriend. In fact, I am meeting her there."
"Oooo, well okay. Won't be for long once you tell him how you feel."
She thought about that while she walked to the swim meet across campus. Could she? Could she get him if she told him how she felt? Yes, of course, that was what she had to do.
Once at the arena where the swim meet was, she showed her student ID and was able to find a seat in the stands. It was not too crowded, but she looked around to see if she saw any familiar faces. None, and not any brown faces other than hers. If Ivan's little girlfriend was there, she knew it wasn't a sister girl.
