Prompt: A40: "You really need a haircut."
A/N: Places itself to the time where the reader and Kaz have been together long enough so the reader can touch Kaz sometimes without him freaking out. Also I tried writing in present tone as I've been using AI Dungeon lately for fun and to pass time (and writing in present tone was mostly an accident, I mean I wrote like 300 words with it before noticing and decided to roll with it after that XD), let me know how you like it!
Warnings: Mentions of Kaz's hair not being flawless

Sitting with Kaz on the late nights as rain pounds the roof of the Slat is the best time of your days. You don't talk much, just sitting there, usually with you watching him work or reading a book for him. Your voice is calming to him, and those days are like cuddles in your relationship.
Tonight, you're just sitting there, following his hand with your gaze as he memorizes a map with his brilliant mind, and then you look up at his face. His frown is deep as he concentrates, and he constantly has to wipe some stray strands of hair back as they obscure his vision. His hair is getting a little too long again for him to handle, and you smile.
"You really need a haircut. Your hair is getting a little out of shape." you comment and Kaz takes a deep breath in.
"I know, I'll book an appointment soon." he answers, and you slowly lift up your hand towards his head to make sure he knows that your hand is coming. After he doesn't protest, signaling it's a better day for him, your hand lands on his hair, and you run your fingers through his black strands while chuckling.
"Maybe something different this time?" you suggest. He just rolls his eyes as response, but you catch a small smile on his lips for a moment before he returns to his usual stoic expression. You drop your hand and he starts tracing the map with his finger again as you sit beside him, leaning on your hand and just watching him work.
"I know a good hairdresser just a block from here. He would have good ideas with what to do with your hair." you mutter after a bit and he huffs.
"I'm more than happy with my usual one."
You nod with a small smile. "I know, but sometimes a little bit of change would make you look fresh and good, you've had that same hairstyle for like ten years already."
He glances at you briefly. "Looking good doesn't bring profit."
You grin, cocking your head a bit. "No, but it would please my eye better. Everything doesn't have to bring profit, Kaz."
He rolls his eyes again, and falls silent. You take the hint, and don't bother to argue.
"I guess I like you enough with your usual then." you sigh in disappointment. "You're so stubborn, you know that?"
"Part of my reputation." he smirks. "You took me as I am, remember?"
You smile fondly at the memory - the moment all those years ago, when you had come to a mutual agreement to devote yourselves to each other. You had promised that you would always respect his boundaries, and that promise has kept itself tightly in place for all these years.
"Yes, I remember. And wouldn't have it any other way."
