♣Review♣
So let's begin, I absolutely love the cover that you have chosen for your book. The shadows of black and splatters of red blood below with a Polaroid picture to the corner add up to the appeal. Also, the shape of the half human skull alongside of a face brings out the mystery, suspense and drama making it hauntingly beautiful. The title has a certain kind of compelling aura to it which is quite gripping. From the name itself, I get a glimpse to the inside of your story which I think is pretty amazing. Honestly, you have done a wonderful job with the characters and aesthetics of your story. It's not just the pictures but also the colors and fonts they all mix pretty damn well!
The synopsis of your book does give a fair idea of your story and is intense and thrilling like it should be. Though the dialogue that you have put in your description like an excerpt, I don't find that very attractive, and well suit to the likes of your plot. Your writing style is quite intriguing. The way that you describe things, be it the very object or a particular action, actually keeps me interested and want to keep on reading. You have maintained a consistent flow of plot throughout and there wasn't anything that I felt out of place. Spelling errors didn't pop up through all the chapters that I've read and also I couldn't find much of any grammatical mistakes, so I was pleased with that.
I must say that your characters were very impressive with each portraying distinct physical and mental qualities. And you have also done justice with their developmental aspects as the story further progress. By this I mean that, in the beginning I thought Emma to be casual, smart yet vulnerable and a bit selfish but as I went on with the story I realized that her character had more to portray. I like the innocence and fragility with which you have described her as a child. But as she gets older, I found her to be responsible and caring as she looks after her younger sister.
Steve in this story is a mystery element to me. I couldn't quite figure out what his intentions were right since the very beginning. I mean I get that Emma sees him as bold, reliable and honest person who wouldn't hesitate to help a person in need. But I feel like there is more to him than meets eye and I'm sure that as the story unravels we'll get to discover him more.
As a keen reader of mystery and thriller books I feel that your book ideally fits the criteria in every way.
