In the present, Gula looked up from the page and stuck it in his robe.
"Trust no one but myself," he said and left the alleyway. In the Daybreak Town warehouse, Aced was sitting alone, resting his shoulder on a box and gasping for air. He was covered in grime and sweat as Gula entered the building.
"Gula..." Aced said as Gula approached him.
"Do you wanna know what my role is?" Gula asked.
"Huh?
"The Books we were given are incomplete. There's a Lost Page."
"Lost Page?" Aced asked as he stood up with difficulty.
"On that page, it is written that there is a traitor. The Master told me...to find and stop that person." Gula summoned his Keyblade and pointed it at Aced.
"I called you my 'comrade.' But never again, Gula. It doesn't matter to me if you think I am the traitor and you want to strike me down," Aced said. Gula began to hesitate as Aced's fury rose.
"You knew there was a traitor, and you just watched silently as we fought each other, and I won't forgive you for that," Aced said as he walked toward Gula, who backed away in fear.
"You can barely stay on your feet! Just give up already!" Gula said.
"Don't you underestimate me!" Aced summoned his Keyblade. Gula grasped his blade with both hands and took on a fighting stance and their blades clashed. Ava hurriedly ran into the warehouse as Gula fell to the ground, his Keyblade dissipating. Ava gasped and slid in between Gula and Aced. She held her hand high to halt Aced.
"Please stop!" she said. She frightfully awaited Aced's next move. Aced, out of breath, prepared to strike. A terrified Ava shielded Gula with her body. Aced gasped and dismissed his Keyblade. He looked at Ava in frustration.
"You too, huh?" he asked. He limped out of the warehouse. Ava watched him leave and proceeded to stand up, carrying the now unconscious Gula.
"Why? Why did it have to come to this?" she asked.
Aced wandered through a street in the town, using the side of a building for leverage in his weakened state. As the rain began to fall, he ran into Ira.
"Come to finish me off? Then make it quick," he said as he slumped to the ground in defeat. Ira walked toward him.
"That's not what brought me here today. I wish to fulfill the role bestowed upon me, that's all. It isn't our place to try to change the events of the future; that is not our mission. We're here to make sure that light lives on. With only five lights, we can't afford to lose any," Ira said.
"You...still count me as one of the five lights?" Ira clasped Aced's shoulder.
"Of course," he said.
"Heh... Only you could be such a good guy after everything we've been through. Ira helped Aced to his feet. "But hey, I guess that's one of the reasons I respect you so much. However, we still might only be four."
Ira looked confused.
"I'm talking about Gula. He's using the knowledge of something called the Lost Page," Aced said. Ira gasped and Aced balled his hand into a fist. "He said that it contains events that are missing from all of our Books. He's using it to discover and apprehend whoever is the traitor, claims that's his role. But who knows what his real intentions are? What I do know is that I'll never forgive him for hiding the fact that he knew someone would betray us. That's the biggest betrayal of all."
Ira clasped Aced on the shoulder and faced him.
"I'd like to believe that Gula was simply carrying out his role... Aced, I'll deal with this matter. Please keep it to yourself for now," he said.
"Understood."
"I need to see that Lost Page."
"It might have something to do with (Y/N) and these so called Spirits."
"I know. That's what worries me." Ira walked away and began his search for the Lost Page.
