"I need to tell her the truth," Xehanort said.
"Are you sure? She really hates you right now," Eraqus said.
"It's the only way for her to understand why I did what I did."
"Fine. It's your funeral." Xehanort took a deep breath and walked over to you, nervous about how he was going to talk to you.
"Ira, if you don't mind, I would like to talk to (Y/N) for a while," he said.
"Sure," Ira said. Ira backed away so that you and Xehanort could have a moment.
"The hell do you want?" you asked.
"I want to tell you the truth as to why I did what I did," Xehanort said.
"The truth? This should be interesting," Celina said. Pretty soon, your siblings surrounded Xehanort, as if demanding to know what the truth was.
"Wow, a lot of pressure on me. Wasn't expecting that," he said.
"Just tell us already," Vanitas said.
"Right. Sorry. It all started with a dream."
"A dream?" Xemnas asked.
"Yes. I've been having the same dream over and over again for as long as I can remember. An unfamiliar world filled with unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar good-byes... As if I'm experiencing a life that belonged to someone else. This island surrounded by smaller desolate isles, a vast ocean, and a never-ending sky–this is my entire world. But maybe there's something beyond these waters. Maybe there are worlds like the ones I dream of. If I could get to the outside world, would I be able to meet my friends from my dreams? I can't get the thought out of my head as I lie on the sand like a starfish day after day, feeling like I'm falling through the sky."
"You were born on Destiny Islands, weren't you?" you asked.
"Yeah. Ansem was there too." "
"Really?!" you and Celina asked.
"Hey, possessed by a Negaverse. Forced to do it, okay?" Ansem said. You and Celina giggled and continued to listen to what Xehanort had to say.

One day, as Xehanort stared out from his place on the beach, a robed figure appeared from behind him. Xehanort turned as the peculiar figure approached him.
"My waypoint," the figure said.
"What?" Xehanort asked.
"The world from your dreams... It does indeed exist. This is nothing but a prison surrounded by ocean. There is nothing for you here. Is this where you wish to carry out your life?"
"Who are you?"
"I am your waypoint, as you are mine."
"What do you mean? Who are you? How did you get here?"
"Answers are meaningless if you lack the knowledge to understand them. Here, there is only so much you can learn. You must explore the world outside."
"Huh?" The robed figure motioned with his arm and a portal, a corridor of darkness, appeared before them.
"It's easier than you'd think. One step forward is all it takes. But if you lack the courage and strength, your dreams will remain dreams forever," the figure said. Xehanort walked forward and stares into the portal. Sometime later, in a glorious white city built into a mountain, Xehanort sat on a wooden bench alone.
"Xehanort," someone said. Xehanort looked up as a boy with black hair, Eraqus, walked down the stairs towards him.
"It's almost time for class," Xehanort said.
"I know," Eraqus smiled as he sat down next to Xehanort.
"Wait. Aren't you going?" Eraqus leaned back with his arms behind his head.
"Eventually," he said.
"Always doing things in your own time."
"It's gonna take a while for the others to show up anyway."
"That's true."
"What's it like out there?"
"Huh?" Eraqus looked over at Xehanort, leaning his head on his arm.
"What was it like on the other side of the ocean? Must be nice to know," Eraqus said.
"Beats me." Eraqus motioned to the circular square in front of them.
"But this is where they found you, right?" he asked.
"Yeah, I was lying here unconscious. But what does that prove?" Eraqus stared out at similar mountain cities across the water.
"The nearest towns we can see are all abandoned. That means you had to have come from somewhere farther away," he said. Xehanort looked upward and Eraqus followed his gaze.
"Or maybe I fell from the sky," Xehanort said.
"Well, that's new." The two of them started to laugh.
"What you can see is only part of the picture. Not only that, the things you get used to seeing can fade into the background," Xehanort said.
"So...you're sticking with 'I fell from the sky'?"
"Keep an open mind, Eraqus. Maybe then you'll actually beat me."
"Wait. You've been talking about chess this whole time?"
"Come on, we need to get to class," Xehanort said as he stood up. He walked into town, leaving Eraqus behind.
"The outside world, huh? What I wouldn't give..." Eraqus said. The great windmills turned slowly at Scala ad Caelum. Four youths had assembled for class inside the citadel, chatting amongst themselves as Xehanort and Eraqus entered the classroom.
"Oh? Thought we'd be the last ones here," Eraqus said.
"Me too. Being late and running away IS what you do best," Urd said.
"That's right! And don't you forget it! Just call me Tardy Fleetfoot!" Vor laughed and the others smiled as Xehanort sat down.
"Baldr's not here yet?" he asked.
"Nope," Hermod said.
"And the Master?" Eraqus asked.
"Not here either," Bragi said.
"Well, that's a first."
"I wonder what's going on," Vor said.
"This was pretty short notice," Hermod said.
"We're not here for class?" Bragi asked.
"Master Odin," Vor said. The six of them rushed to their chairs as the wizened and bearded figure of their master entered. They bowed and he motioned them to sit.
"I did not gather you here for our usual class," he said.
The day I met the man in the robe, my world was turned upside down. But I got used to it eventually.
Xehanort stood before the corridor of darkness on the Destiny Islands.
Your world can change in an instant. Sometimes all it takes is a single step.
Xehanort entered the portal and it closed as the robed figure looked on.
