chapter thirty five

Uma's pov

Celia and I go to check Audrey's room, Mal and Evie look for traces of her in the school and the boys have gone to find Ben.
I have to admit, though, that Audrey's room is really nice, now I'm lying on her bed reading her diary, a little sorry for what she has been through, instead Celia is trying on all the jewels: she has 5 necklaces around her neck , 8 rings, 3 bracelets and a crown on the head.
Mal and Evie enter the room and ask:
<Did you find something?>
<Here is her diary, damn if she ruined her life Mal> I say the last sentence laughing.
<Did you discover something they didn't already know or ...>
<He is at the enchanted cottage, where Flora, Fauna and Serenella hid her mother from your mother.>
<Yes, hahaha, I caught your sarcasm.> She replies, then I lie better on the bed and duco:
<How can you be unhappy with a bed like this?!>
Evie looks at Celia:
<Celia .. put everything in their place, those jewels are not yours.>
<But she's bad> Celia complains.
<And we don't.>

After an hour...

Me, Mal, Celia and Evie head to the latter's house, we decide to eat and wait for Gil, Harry, Carlos and Jay to return with Ben.
When we enter we find Dizzy and the twins asleep on the dican, so Celia covers them with a blanket and promises him that when it's all over all the VKs will come to Auradon, then the moment is interrupted by some noises coming from Evie's room, so we head there.
When we enter there is a boy lying on the ground:
<Is this who he is?> I ask
<Doug!> Evie exclaims and I can't tell if she's worried or happy to see him again.
<Doug wake up!  Come on, let's go!> Start shaking the boy's body.
<He can't> I say, then I turn to Mal:
<She's Not That Smart>
<She is romantically involved.> Sly replies.
<Well then she shouldn't have tried me> the two girls look at me not understanding what I mean:
<The kiss ... of true love> and I smile saying the last sentence, I see Mal looking at me as if she was surprised that I said this sentence, instead Evie says shyly:
<We haven't said the word with an "A" yet> I roll my eyes, then she asks us for some privacy so Mal and I go off to eat the cake.
As we walk to go to another room, Mal mo asks in surprise:
<You really don't know Doug?  He often comes to pick up Evie to go out>
<You know, I didn't really care what happened in the room if it wasn't about me> I reply laughing.
I sit at a table and grab a large piece of cake, then Mal comes over and says:
<Listen Uma, I really have to thank you, without your plan we wouldn't be able to find any traces of Audrey and we wouldn't know where to look for her, so thank you> she smiles cheerfully and I reply:
<You're waiting for an insult>
<No, really, I just wanted to thank you> Mal says sitting down in front of me.
After we spend some time talking, Mal gets serious and says:
<Uma ... I'm sorry I nicknamed you "shrimp" and excluded you from my gang>
I look at her surprised, I was expecting anything but this, so I reply with a smile that she had nothing happy:
<Yeah, together we could have set the Island on fire>
Then we hear some noises, we turn abruptly and we see that all the windows are closed by pieces of wood, I immediately call Celia and hold her tight to me, then Evie and Doug arrive, Mal starts to recite a spell:
<You have created us unparalleled disturbances, we are tired now you disappear!> Nothing happens:
<Audrey's power is too strong!> Mal cries worriedly, then I realize that my necklace shines, I look at Mal and we take each other by the hand, together we recite the spell and the wooden beams fall.
<You did it together> Evie says with a smile.
<My necklace loves you> I joke, then I take Hades stone and give it to Mal, she smiles and beats her fist against mine.
<Mal!  Your beauty is there!> Exclaims Celia happily;  we all rush out to meet the boys.
As soon as I see Gil and Harry I can't help but smile, I bang my fist with Gil, instead Harry asks me in a low voice:
<Are you okay?> I nod and hold his hook in my hand, I'm really happy that he's fine and nothing has been done.
