Shawn's POV

I walked into my room, just as my phone began to ring, my best friend (y/n)'s name showed up while I immediately pressed the accept call button.

"Hello?" I answered in a cheery voice, bringing the phone up to my ear, hearing a few sniffles on the other end of the line immediately becoming concerned.

"(Y/n)?" I asked again, hoping she would say something, but only heard more sniffles and sobbing.

"(Y/n), please say something, what's wrong?"

She took a deep breath and attempted to tell me what had happened.

"H-he b-broke up w-with m-me," she sobbed as I sat down on my bed, running a hand through my hair.

A feeling of anger came over me. My fists balled up and I clenched my jaw, my face turning a bright red.

I knew this was going to happen. She had been dating the most popular guy at school. He was a complete player and cheated on every girl he was with.

Despite his infamous reputation, (y/n) was head over heels in love with him. I told her so many times to stay away from him, but she would never listen. And here she is now, running back to me.

I liked (y/n) a lot. There were so many times when I wanted to ask her to be my girlfriend, but I was afraid if she didn't feel the same way, it would ruin our friendship, and I wasn't willing to risk it.

I stayed silent, for I was much too angry to say anything.

"S-Shawn, can y-you come o-over?" She pleaded as I let out a sigh. Sure, I was mad at her for not listening, but she needed me now.

"Of course," I hung up the phone and quickly got dressed.

I drove to her house and knocked on the door. She opened it and immediately ran into my arms and sobbed into my chest. I picked her up and carried her to her room.

Gently setting her down on the bed, I crawled in next to her, wrapping my arms around her fragile body.

She couldn't stop crying. Her makeup was running down her face, dark brown eyes now puffy and red. Her cheeks were bright pink and tear stains were left all over her soft skin.

"Shh, you'll be okay," I attempted to calm her down, "breath." I cooed soothingly, gently stroking her hair.

I wiped her tears away lightly with my thumb. I hated seeing her like this, so helpless, so broken. But I wanted to change that.

"(Y/n), I love you," the words came flying out of my mouth before I could stop them. I looked down at her, waiting nervously for a reaction or expression.

She looked more beautiful every time I looked at her. Every feature stood out even more to me and I knew I really did love her.

"I love you too, Shawn," she mumbled into my tear soaked shirt.

"N-No, (y/n), I mean, as more than a friend. I really like you. A lot. And I would treat you so much better than all of these guys. We both know that! I would make you feel special. I-I would treat you like a princess! I just need you to give me a chance," I sighed.

"R-Really?" She looked up at me.

"Really," I whispered.

We looked at eachother, taking in everything that had just been said. I had to make a move. I needed to heal her broken heart and show her what true love was, and that it did exist.

This was about to change everything.

I slowly leaned in and kissed her rosy pink lips. Sparks flew everywhere and I had a strange feeling in my stomach. Our lips fit together like they were made for eachother. Every movement, in perfect harmony, and it felt so right.

I pulled away, leaning my forehead against hers, looking into her eyes.

"One chance, Mendes," she whispered, her minty breath fanning my face.

"Thats all I need," I smiled, before our lips reconnected.
