Prom

I stood in the mirror, putting the finishing touches on my look.

Tonight was a special night for me.
It was prom, and I was going with my boyfriend, Shawn.
Tonight also happened to be our 2 year anniversary.

I smoothed out my long royal blue dress, pulling it up and making sure everything fit right.

I heard my door open and I turned around to see Shawn standing there in a tux.

He looked amazing.

He walked up behind me, wrapping his arms loosely around my waist, planting a small, sweet kiss on my cheek.

"Hi baby girl." He whispered in my ear.

I put my hands on top of his and looked at him through the mirror.

"Hey."

"You look absolutely gorgeous, princess." He said, admiring me.

I felt myself blushing, and looked down.

"Thanks. You look great too."

He turned me around so I was facing him, and placed his large hands on my waist, pulling me closer to him.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, playing with his soft hair.

"Are you excited for prom?" I asked him.

He smiled and bit his lip.
"Of course! How could I not be excited to spend the perfect night with the perfect girl?" He said, leaning in.

He placed his lips on mine gently, and kissed me.

We pulled away and I moved out of his grip to grab my shoes before heading downstairs.

He picked me up bridal style and carried me down the stairs.

After taking a pictures and saying our goodbyes, we headed off to the venue.

Shawn and I had a grand time at prom, we danced together all night long.

The last song was a slow song and Shawn took my hand and pulled me to the dance floor.

"May I have this dance?" He asked me sweetly.

I giggled.
"Of course."

He wrapped his arms around my waist and I put mine around his neck, laying my head against his chest.

"I love you." He whispered.

"I love you more." I mumbled into his chest.

He pulled away and stuck his hand in his pocket, pulling out a small box.

"I, uh, I have something for you." He said nervously, looking at me.

He took my hand again and began to speak.

"Rosemarie, you are the most beautiful and gorgeous girl I have ever laid eyes on. You make me feel like the luckiest guy in the world, and I am, because I have you. I promise that I will always be here for you when you need me. I promise to keep you safe. And most of all, I promise to love you, until my very last breath. So, I want to give you this."

I teared up at his sweet words as he opened up the box, revealing a small promise ring.

He took it out and slipped it on my finger.

I looked up at him, smiling and we both leaned in.

The kiss was soft and gentle, as if to say "I love you."

We pulled away and he rested his forehead against mine.

"Thank you Shawn, I love you so much." I said, sniffling.

He smiled at me and lightly wiped my tears away with his thumb.

"Happy Anniversary baby girl." He said, before reconnecting our lips.
