I opened the white door slowly, hearing the familiar creaking sound as I looked inside. The white sheets draped across the bed, small posters and pictures hung along the cream colored walls. His favorite Taylor guitar standing in the corner of the bedroom. Despite the endless amount of decor and color brought to the room, it still looked lifeless.

A small, white envelope caught my eye. Reaching out and grasping it in my hand, I realized what it was, and that I haven't read it in years.

Opening it and pulling out a small, folded up piece of paper, I took in a deep breath, preparing myself to read it again, in hopes of not crying.

My beloved Fallon,

My hand trembles as I write this letter to you, knowing that I'll be gone when you're reading it.

I'm sorry it had to end like this, my love, but know that it was not your fault; it never was. So please, please, baby girl, stop blaming yourself for what happened.

You may have been talking to me, but I was the one driving. I didn't pay attention, and I should have. It almost costed your life as well.

There are so many things I need to tell you before I go, and if I were to tell you them face-to-face, I know for sure that I would forget many of them, which is why I chose to write them down instead; also so that you could come back to this any time you needed to.

Darling, there's something I've been needing to say to you for the entire time we've been together. I know I should've said it earlier, but I was too scared, and my fear held me back.
But now, I have nothing to lose.

Fallon, I love you.

I've been to scared to ever say the word 'love', for there's so much meaning behind it. But I know for sure that I love you, Fallon, with every fiber in my being. I am in love with you, darling, and I hope you feel the same way.

You drive me crazy, in the best way possible. You make me so happy, and so strong. I feel like I can conquer the world when you smile at me, and support me in everything I do. And now here I am, smiling like an idiot at this piece of college-ruled paper.

I know at the beginning, I didn't know how to start this letter, but now my hand is moving, and I can't stop. My mind is running wild, trying to remember everything I wanted to cover before I close this letter.

Baby girl, find someone else after I'm gone. Find someone who can make you happy, and support you, and love you endlessly. I know it's hard to move on from our relationship, but do it, okay? Do it for me. Because you deserve another man who can make you feel like the most beautiful, and special girl in the entire world.

Please don't forget me, though, princess. Never forget how I was your first kiss, your first time, and your first love. I hope you'll find someone else that will say 'I love you' to you every night, but never forget that I loved you first, and always will.

I regret all those times I went on tour, leaving you behind with nothing but a small text or FaceTime call each night.
I should've stayed home, I should've cherished every little moment I got with you.

So I guess this is it, baby girl, I told you everything I needed to.

I can finally sit here in full confidence, and tell you that I love you.

It feels so good, the way the words roll off of my tongue. The sentence tastes so familiar, leaving my mouth, but only when it's directed towards you.

If you only take away one thing from this letter, let it be that I love you, and will never stop.

I love you, Fallon, and baby girl, that will never, ever change. Just keep reading the sentence over and over again until it drives you insane and you can actually hear me saying it.
