I tapped my foot on the ground, changing the television channels as I sat on the couch, waiting impatiently for Shawn.

I quickly glanced at the digital clock on the table in front of me.

1:38 A.M

I rolled my eyes as I heard the front door open, quiet shuffling and footsteps.

"Rikki?" Shawn called quietly.

"Yeah?" I replied, sounding clearly irritated.

"Sorry I'm home late again, I just had a lot of work tonight." He said, walking over and sitting beside me on the couch.

"It's fine." I shot back.

"Um, is something bothering you?" He asked curiously, resting a hand on my knee.

I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and he removed his hand.

"Um, yeah something is." I hesitantly respond, "Are you, actually working when you're out?"

Shawn licked his lips and sighed.
"Yes, why?" He asked, confused.

"Oh, um, I don't know. I just...didn't think you were actually working. That's all." I stated, shrugging my shoulders and staring at the floor.

"I am working. Why would you think that?" He asked me again, his tone of voice changing.

"Uh, I don't know. I thought maybe you were...with someone." I replied nervously.

"Rikki are you implying that I'm cheating?" He stood up, now yelling at me.

"Um, I-"

"Don't bother, I know that's exactly what you were thinking." He stormed off angrily to the bedroom, slamming the door.

I quickly got up, running after him.

"Shawn?" I called quietly from outside the door, shaking the doorknob trying to get it.

"G-Go away." I heard his muffled sobs.

My heart broke as I realized what I had done. I carefully picked the lock, opening up the door and stepping inside.

"Baby-"

"Go away! I don't want to see you!" He yelled angrily. His cheeks were puffy and his eyes were red, tears concurrently streaming down his face.

"Please, Shawn I didn't mean to imply that you were cheating." I tried explaining to him.

"Why don't you get it?" He asked through gritted teeth.

"G-Get what?" I stuttered.

"That I'm not a cheater. That I love you. That I only want you. Why don't you get it?" He repeated with a gentler but shaky voice.

My heart stopped as I took in what he had just said.

Shawn didn't cheat.
He would never cheat.

"I'm sorry. I know now." I whispered, drawing traces on his back as he laid face-down on the bed.

"I wouldn't ever cheat on you, Rikki. I love you too much to hurt you like that." He said, letting out a shaky breath.

"I love you too Shawn. I'm sorry I hurt you." I whispered, planting a small kiss on his cheek.

He grabbed me by the waist, pulling me on to his lap and stuffing his face into the crook of my neck as I giggled at the feeling.

"You're the only one I want."
