SHAWN'S POV

I walked upstairs and opened up my closet, searching for something to wear.

I was going on a date with (y/n) tonight, but it was more of a casual date.

I pushed clothes aside until I found a blue and black flannel and a pair of khaki pants.

I got dressed and fixed my hair in the mirror.

I got in my car and drove to (y/n)'s house, jamming out to some music along the way.

Upon arriving to (y/n)'s home, I knocked on her front door, holding a bright red rose in my hand.

The door was opened, revealing (y/n) with puffy, red eyes; tears running down her splotchy pink cheeks.

I immediately stepped inside, wrapping her in a tight hug, swaying side to side.
She weakly wrapped her arms around my torso.

"What's wrong, princess?" I whispered.

"I-I just-"
She couldn't finish her sentence as she burst into more tears.

"Come on." I said gently, picking her up.

She wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck, resting her head against my shoulder.

I walked out, shutting the door behind us, and carried her to back my car.

Placing her down in the passenger seat, I got in and started driving.

I drove us all the way to an open field, once again carrying her out.

We walked down to the field and I put her down and sat beside her.

We sat there for a few minutes in comfortable silence, taking in the beauty of the area.
We watched the sunset as the cool spring air surrounded us.

I turned to (y/n) and pulled her onto my lap, wrapping my arms around her waist as she rested her head back against my chest.

"You know I love you, right?" I said, gently kissing her cheek.

She slowly nodded her head, wiping a few tears away.

"And you know I'll always be here for you. If you want to talk, I'm always ready to listen."

She nodded her head again as I slowly swayed us side to side, resting my chin on her shoulder.

"And I'm sorry this date wasn't what I had planned, but that doesn't matter. All that matters is that you're okay." I said, looking straight ahead.

Once again she nodded her head, keeping silent.
I felt her breathing pattern return to normal as she calmed down.

"Thank you, Shawn." She finally managed to say.

I slowly moved a piece of hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.

"Of course, princess."

I turned her cheek lightly so that she was facing me, pressing my lips gently against hers.

We pulled away and she laid her head against my chest again as we both looked out at the open field.

I grabbed the red rose I still had, and gave it to her.

"Here you go, beautiful." I said, handing it to her.

She looked me in the eyes and slowly took it from my hand, giggling a bit.

She laid her body against mine again as we sat there in silence for a few more minutes.

"Shawn?" (Y/n) asked, breaking the silence.

"Yes princess?"

She turned to me.
"Why did you bring me here?" She asked, cocking her head to the side.

"Because," I said, "I think that you needed to be reminded of how much I love you."
