I Miss You

"Hey baby girl, it's Shawn, how are you?

I'm doing alright, but it's been hard without you.

Our little girl just turned five yesterday, but she cried because she missed you so much. So did I.

Last night she asked to look through the photo albums and we sat together all night reminiscing.

She's with your parents right now because I wanted to spend some time alone with you."

I paused, taking in a deep breath.

"God, I miss you so much, princess.

I miss the way we cuddled, feeling your warm body next to mine as we snuggled up under the covers.

I miss your hugs, your small little arms wrapped around my torso; the way you would hug me after I got back from tour, like you really, really missed me."

I wiped a tear away, trying to stay strong for her.

"I miss getting to kiss your soft lips every morning; waking up to your beautiful face as you laid there so peacefully.

I miss making your favorite coffee and breakfast, and getting to be the first one to say 'good-morning' every day."

More tears slipped down my cheeks that were now puffy and splotchy. My eyes turned red from crying so hard, but this time I didn't bother wiping away the tears.

"Gosh, I even miss FaceTiming you while I was on tour. Your smile would make me a million times happier, knowing that in just a few weeks I would be able to come back and see that smiling face again.

You're my everything, baby girl. And I know before you left, you told me to find someone else that will make me happy like you did, but in all honesty, it's utterly impossible. You were one of a kind, and I'll never find someone that made me feel like you did.

I just want to be able to hold you in my arms and kiss you one more time."

I leaned down to kiss the grave, placing the small bundle of daisies down on it as well.

"I know daisies are your favorite, so I hope you like these, baby. Just remember that you'll always be my baby girl. I miss you, love, but I'll be back soon."
