CHAPTER THIRTY ONE:
Brooke woke up early Friday morning, her eyes were sore sho she looked in the mirror and they were red and puffy. She pick up her cellphone to see if there was any missed calls throughout the night but there wasn't. Brooke put on her shorts, T Shirt and her joggers and decided to go for a power walk, to get some fresh air. While she was power walking she bacame teary eyed again, thinking about the betrayal. She certainly didn't feel like going to work, but she knew there was no point in sitting at home moping around, so when she got back from her walk she had a shower and got ready for work. She hopped in her car and headed to her first appointment. She decided to call Caroline on her way, she told Caroline the story, they decided to meet up for lunch at Starbucks in West Hollywood and take the afternoon off, they were still working by answering their phones should any customers need to speak to them, but usually on a Friday afternoon things slowed down.
Caroline was worried about Brooke and wanted to see her desperately, after Brooke spoke to Caroline she then rung Crystal and went through the whole story again. As soon as Brooke hung up her cellphone rung and it showed on her caller ID that it was Monica.
"Hello"
"Hi Brooke, it's Monica, I'm just calling to see how you are and if you had heard from Jake?"
"I'm okay, but no I have not heard from him, have you?" asked Brooke
"Yes, I rung him on my way home from your place last night, just to let him know we had met up!"
"Was he angry?" asked Brooke
"Yes he was"
"Well he certainly didn't call me, obviously he couldn't give a shit as to how I am feeling, typical of the sly dog, probably trying to make up some story for me to believe when he gets back!" Brooke said with disgust in her voice.
"You wouldn't stay with him would you Brooke?"
"Why?"
"Well, you know I have been seeing him for six years, and we have a very long history together, you really should find someone else".
"You're kidding right! You're the one who is married don't you think you should sort that mess out first! and don't go telling me that I should go find someone else, remember I am not married! and I am not two timming someone like you are, cheating behind your husbands back!! and let me remind you that person you are cheating wth happens to be your husbands best friend Jake!" Brooke yelled the words down the phone at Monica
"Calm down, look sorry, I didn't mean to upset you" there was a pause "Are you still meeting up with me tomorrow?" Monica asked Brooke
"Sure, my friend Caroline will be with me as well, what time did you want to meet?"
"Say between 11.30 am and 12.00 noon at the Sky Lounge"
"Okay, I will see you there"
Brooke hung up and drove into the carpark close to where her appointment was. She parked the car and gathered her stuff and walked to her appointment. An hour later Brooke came out of her meeting, she made a hugh sale which any other day she'd be jumping for joy, but after what was happening in her life she didn't care at all. Brooke didn't feel like seeing any more customers so she decided to head towards West Hollywood so she could get to Starbucks where she was meeting Caroline. She text Caronline to tell her she was on her way and would be at Starbucks in about forty five minutes. She received a reply text back, Caroline would be there soon as well.
Brooke was playing her ipod in the car and a song came on "Strong Enough" by Cher, she started singing the words and it brought tears to her eyes, as the story to the song was exactly what she was going through. She was so shattered, her heart was aching once again, she just couldn't help but cry, she had never felt so hurt by anyone like this before. All her dreams and hopes were now destroyed, her heart had been ripped apart.
She made it near Starbucks and parked the car just a street away, she looked in the rear view mirror at herself and she looked terrible. She sat there for a while just staring at herself, thinking how much she hated herself for allowing someone in her heart, she had all the warning signs but chose to ignore them, she only had herself to blame for the situation she was in. Jake was right for treating her like this any other smart person would have walked away at the very beginning, but no not Brooke, she thought she was in love, was she some desperate abnormal person who enjoyed being treated like the saying goes "Treat em mean and keep em keen!" because that's exactly what happened. She thought her marriage had been bad, but it was nothing like this relationship she was in, her ex husband would not have been so cruel, but she aloud it! What a fool she thought. She was angry and didn't have Jake there to take it out on him, so she decided to take it out on herself, she was not thinking straight. There was so much anger building up inside her she was enraged with hostility that she wanted to rip him apart and beat the crap out of him and hurt him as much as he had hurt her. She slammed her fist against the steering wheel, she was angry and frustrated, she kept hitting the steering wheel with the palm of her hand until she became weak and then slumped over the wheel and cried her eyes out. Brooke was not a violent person and knew she would never do anything to hurt Jake physically it just wasn't in her nature, but she did get some satisfaction thinking about what she would like to do to him. She had to snap herself out of the state she was in, this was not healthy the way she was thinking, she had to remember it isn't her fault, so she wiped her eyes and blew her nose, she got her make up out and applied some compact powder on her face and under her eyes where they were red and she put some lip gloss on, it didn't help much but there was nothing else she could do, so she got out of the car and headed to Starbucks.
As she approached Starbucks she saw Caroline sitting at an outside table. She approached the table and Caroline stood up and gave Brooke a hug.
"How are you doing darl?" asked Caroline
"I've had better days" and then the water works started again "I am just so God Damn hurt and ashamed of myself, why did I trust him so much?"
"It's not your fault, you weren't to know, don't be so hard on yourself, here sit down, I bought you these, I thought they might cheer you up"
Brooke smiled, Caroline had given her a bunch of bright coloured Gerberas they were Brooke's favourite flowers.
"Thank you so much, they're lovely, and they have brighten my day"
They sat and chattered for a few hours, Brooke was feeling a little better after the talk. She looked at her watch " Shit! I have to go, I've got to pick up Lauren and Dillon from school. Oh about tomorrow will you still come with me to the Sky Lounge to see Monica?" asked Brooke
"I will definately be there, I want to check this Monica chick out!" said Caroline
"Good, I need your support, she seems to be a nice person, and I kind of feel sorry for her, but she has been doing the wrong thing by her husband. What I don't get is why she didn't leave Rick years ago if Jake is the love of her life?"
"We all hear stories like that, they say to their lover they are going to leave their husband or wife, but they never do"
"True, it sounds very familiar, she wants us to meet her between 11.30 am and 12.00 noon, so how about I come and get you and we will go together, I'll be at your place at 11.15am it that's okay?" Brooke asked Caroline as she was paying the bill for lunch.
"That's fine, I will see you tomorrow, try and not worry too much and make sure you get some rest and sleep" Caroline said to Brooke
"I'll try thankyou so much for listening to my drama'a and again thank you for the beautiful flowers".
They gave each other a kiss and hug goodbye and went their own seperate ways back to their cars.
Brooke picked the kids up from school and had a quiet night at home. Crystal had also stayed home that night to keep Brooke company, she would have loved to have gone with her and Caroline tomorrow but had a family outing planned with Hank and his two daughters. Brooke had reassured Crystal that she was greatful for her staying home that night with her and that either her or Caroline would definately fill her in on all the gossip. Brooke thought how lucky she was to have such loyal and wonderful friends. She also thought to herself just how much she loved her two little angels Dillon and Lauren.
