CHAPTER FORTY EIGHT

CHAPTER FORTY EIGHT:

Sunday morning arrived and Brooke woke from a long and peaceful sleep, she turned and looked at the time on her clock radio it was already 7.30am, she knew lauren and Dillon would be dropped off very soon so she deiced to get up out of bed and make the most of the morning before they arrived. Brooke wandered into the kitchen and put the kettle on she picked up her cellphone there was two missed calls one from Crystal and the other from Caroline, she would call them later it was too early on a Sunday morning to be calling them.

It was mid morning and Lauren and Dillon had been dropped off, the kids were anxious to go to the park and play on the swings and the flying fox, so Brooke decided to pack a picnic lunch and go to the park, it was another glorious sunny winters day. The kids kicked the ball around and played on the swings, it was nice to be in the park. While the kids were running around Brooke's cellphone rung she answered it straight away "Hello, Brooke speaking"

"Hi Brooke, this is Rick, how are you?"

"I'm fine, how are you?"

"Okay.....I was wandering if we could meet up late this afternoon or tonight, I need to ask you a few more questions about Monica and Jake"

"Sure, I do have my children, but I'm sure I could ask Crystal my flat mate to watch them for an hour, I can meet you at 4.00pm if you like"

"That sounds good to me, how about at the Sky Lounge?"

"Fine, I will see you at 4.00pm "

"Oh and can you bring your diary with you" Rick asked

"Okay, see you then" and the phone went dead.

Brooke wondered if Rick had said anything to Monica and Jake, she would find out when she met up with him.

An hour later Brooke and the kids arrived back home Crystal's car was parked in the driveway it was already 3.00pm.

"Hi Crystal" The kids yelled out as they entered the house

"Hi kiddies"

Crystal was in the loungeroom watching television.

"Anything good on TV?" Brooke asked

"No not really, I've only just got in myself"

"Are you here for the night?" Brooke asked

"Yes"

"Good, I was going to see if you wouldn't mind watching the kids for an hour, Rick called me and wants to ask me a few more questions regarding Monica and Jake's relationship. I am suppose to be meeting him at 4.00pm at the Sky Lounge".

"That'll be fine, I don't mind at all" Crystal said

"Thank you, I will also get some take out on my way home, it's my shout!"

"Sounds good"

"I'm just gonna go and freshen up and then get going" Brooke went off to her room, she changed into a pair of jeans and a warm knitted top, she took her coat and said goodbye and headed out the door with her diary in hand.

Brooke arrived at the Sky Lounge she spotted Rick over in a corner sitting at a table, Brooke first went to the bar and got herself a wine and then went over to Rick.

"How are you doing?"

"Okay" Rick replied

"Have you said anything to Monica and Jake?"

"I have and of course they are denying it, I don't know what to believe"

"I'm telling you the truth, of course they are going to lie and deny it, what have I got to gain out of this by lieing to you and telling you that those two are having an affair?"

Brooke could see that Rick was taking in what she was saying "I guess you're right"

Rick asked Brooke several more questions and Brooke had proof and answers to all of them.

"Rick there was something else I need to tell you, that I didn't tell you the other day"

"What was that?"

"Well Monica mentioned to me that your son Brent may not be your biological son, that she thinks he is Jake's son"

Rick looked at Brooke with disbelief in his eyes and said nothing.

"Your wife is not a nice person Rick, and nore is Jake they have a lot of lies hidden, but Monica was always willing to share them with me".

Rick couldn't take any more and rose from the table "I need to go, are you ready to go? I will walk with you my car is parked down the road. I need to have a little chat with Monica" Rick said to Brooke as they were walking out the door. "I'm greatful that you told me everything Brooke and I do believe you"

Brooke stopped beside her car "I'm just sorry it had to turn out this way, had the two of them had been honest with me when I first caught them out and told me they were going to continue to see each other, I would have walked away and never said a word, but they gave me no choice carrying on with this whole charade"

The next minute Rick grabbed Brooke and pulled her into him and tried to kiss her on the lips, Brooke quickly turned her head and was trying to pull away from Rick "What are you doing?"

"I'm sorry, I just thought maybe............?"

"No Rick, it's not a good idea" as she pulled herself out of his grip "You're confused and upset and this is not the answer".

"You're right, I don't know what I was thinking"

Brooke knew exactly what he was thinking, he was thinking this could be a way of getting revenge, Brooke did not want to have any part in it, Brooke said goodbye and hopped in her car and drove off, there was no way in the world she would ever go there, Rick definately was not her type, he was very rough looking with tatoo's up his arms and certainly not the type of man she would go for. Besides she really wanted to put this all behind her and never see Jake, Monica and Rick for that matter again.

Brooke arrive home with Chineese takeaway they sat at the dinner table and ate their chineeser after dinner Brooke put the kids to bed. While on her way to the loungeroom her cellphone started to ring, it was Monica.

Brooke answered "Hello"

"you're gonna pay for what you've done" and then Monica hung up on Brooke

A few minutes later Jake called he too was very angry. Brooke answered his call but before she could say hello he yelled down the phone at her.

"Did you key my car?" Jake asked in a fierce voice.

"No, which car?" Brooke asked

"The mustang!" he yelled

"I have not touched your precious car, why don't you ask Monica! She's the one that has a history for trashing things, remember what she did to your house! and then the time she belted you up at my place, please you should know me better than that, you know that I am not that kind of person to ruin other people's property"

"I'm not seeing Monica anymore!" there was silence

"Well there's your answer" said Brooke "When you do ask her, you can tell her to stop calling me, she just called me earlier and said I was gonna pay for what I've done!"

"You are gonna pay Brooke! You better watch your back!

Brooke hung up on Jake.

Brooke sat down on the couch and told Crystal what had happened "I would never destroy anyone's property, can you believe he had the ordasity to even ask me that! I bet it was Monica, apparently they are not seeing each other AGAIN!! ...We'll see how long that lasts for, like I said the saga will still go on and on with those two. Also they are threatening me, I've had two calls so far"

"Are you worried" Asked Crystal

"No, I think they are bluffing, and just trying to scare me"
