CHAPTER FORTY NINE

CHAPTER FORTY NINE:

A few days had passed and Brooke was getting threatening phone calls every few hours and now they were from all three of them Jake, Monica and Rick. Rick and Monica were just calling and then hanging up. It was Jake who was leaving messages as Brooke decided to stop taking any of their calls. She was a little concern as Crystal was officially moving out in two days, she was moving in with Hank, and Brooke was at home most nights by herself with lauren and Dillon, her backyard led onto a reserve and she was concerned that Jake or Monica or even Rick may jump the back fence and try to scare her at night and she did not want that to happen when the children were at home with her.

So after work one afternoon Brooke went to the local LAPD and told them the story and all the threatening phone calls and messages. The Police officer did say to Brooke that usually when people make threats like that they are bluffing and do not go through with it, it's when they say nothing at all that she should then be worried. The Police officer took down Jakes phone number along with Monica and Rick's.

"I will give Mr Jackson a call and have a little chat with him, I'm sure after that you won't be hearing from any of them again, and if you do just call us and we will take further action"

"Thank you officer for all your help, I feel so embarrased that I've had to come here and file a complaint"

"It's better that you did, we have it on file now"

She thanked the Officer and left the LAPD.

A few more days went by and there were no more calls.

The place Crystal and Brooke were leasing was up for sale and the lease had expired, so Brooke had to find a new place to stay, Crystal was still paying Brooke half the rent while Brooke was looking for somewhere else to lease..

Several weeks later Brooke found a new place to rent, it was not far from where she was living with Crystal. Brooke moved a month later, the children were very excited as they were going to finally have their own bedrooms. Brooke too was excited as it was the beginning of a fresh new start. Crystal and Caroline both helped Brooke unpack some boxes then they went out onto the balcony and opened a bottle of champaigne and Brooke made a toast "To a new beginning" as they clinked their champaigne glasses together.

A few more months had passed and Brooke was very much settled in at her new home. Her cellphone rung, she didn't recognise the number but answered it anyway.

"Hello Brooke Speaking"

"Hi Brooke it's Monica"

Brooke replied with "What the hell do you want?"

"I'm not ringing to cause any trouble, but I do know you have moved and Rick had mentioned to me that he saw Jake's car parked in a side street just around the corner from where you live.....Are you seeing him again?" Monica asked

"Here we go again!!! I can't believe what I am hearing. I will tell you once and once only NO I AM NOT SEEING JAKE....I never want to have anything to do with him again, I have not seen or heard from him in months. I will never go back to that mess again, I have moved on. Obviously you haven't and you are still with him and now he is cheating again on you, well sucked in for not learning a lesson. It's good to see things never change with you two. I promise you I am not seeing him, I could have told you I am just to upset you but I am beeing very honest, even though I don't have to tell you anything. Now please never call me again, I am not interested in anything you or Jake do!" Brooke hung up the phone, she was amazed and so right about those two it's like a continuous merry go round.

Brooke felt relieved and happy with herself that this time she wasn't the one getting hurt again, she rung Caroline to tell her the news.

Just before she hung up from Caroline she said "I was searching for a pot of gold, but all I found was heartbreak, the one who found their pot of gold was Monica, but she will only be finding heartbreak staying with Jake"
