Chapter Nine

CHAPTER NINE:

Morning broke and it was 7.30am by the time Brooke got up and out of bed she went into the kitchen to make herself a coffee and then wanted to be showered and dressed by 9.00am as that was when Dillon and Lauren would be arriving back from their dads.

It was around 8.30am when Crystal came down stairs.

"Good morning"

"Good morning, how was your date with Jake"

"It was wonderful, we went to Caruso's for dinner, I got in around 11.00am. How was your night with Mitch?"

"It was okay, But!"

"But what?"

"I don't know, I just think he is a little young for me, and he could be on the rebound."

"A little young!, he is your age for Christ sakes"

"I find his too immature for me, You know my history, I like older men"

"Fair enough, I guess you gave it a shot and if there isn't any sparks, well then you will only be waisting his and your time"

"You know he just came out of a long term relationship, he was with a girl for three years and was engaged to be married" said Crystal

"No I didn't know that. I guess I would be a little cautious with that as well, how long have they been broken up for?"

"Only a month"

"I guess you are doing the right thing"

"Enough of me what's happening now with you and Jake?"

"Well Jake said he would call me during the week, I really hope he does. I told him I had two children and he didn't seem to mind. Fingers crossed if he means it. How many times have I told someone and then you never hear from them again, they aren't worth it if they want me they have to accept the baggage that comes with me. I can't wait for you to meet him"

The doorbell rang and it was the children. Brooke was going to be having them until Sunday morning, so they had school bags, school uniforms and their favourite toys with them. The first thing Dillon said as I opened the door was "What are we going to do today?" they were his famous words, he was a very active little boy.

"No hello mum, I love and missed you too! and where's my kiss and hug? I missed you two soo much"

They both gave Brooke a big kiss and hug and Dillon had a big smile on his face as he knew his mum was only toying with him.

"What would you like to do today?" asked Brooke

"Can we go to the beach today and have some fish and chips for lunch?"

Sure sounds like a plan, why don't you two grab your costumes and towels and we'll go"

So off they ran to their room, Lauren and Dillon shared a room together, which they didn't ,mind.

"Did you want to come to the beach with us Crystal?"

"I'll give it a miss today, I want to do some washing and then go shopping, Caroline is meeting me for coffee later"

"If you change your mind we will be in our usual spot. I will see you later tonight"

So off Brooke and the kids went with their bucket and spade, beach umbrella, snacks and drinks. Brooke always felt like a pack horse with all the things she had to take to the beach for the kids.
