Chapter Fourty Two

CHAPTER FOURTY TWO:

Brooke was greatful for having the kids that week while Jake was away skiing at Mount Mammoth, she missed him terribly. He rung her each day to see how she was and to tell her how great the snow was. She was glad he was having a great time.

It was Saturday and Jake rung for his daily chat "I will be home Sunday late afternoon, I will come over and see you when I get back"

"Okay, keep safe, I miss you" Said Brooke

"I miss you too"

That night Brooke was taking the children to the movies they were going to the 6.00pm session, it was already 4.45pm and she wanted to have something to eat before they saw the movie, so the kids piled in the car and off they went. As they were driving to the restaurant Brooke found it hard to find a car parking spot in the car park, so she had to park in a back street behind the movie theatre.

Brooke took the kids to the Cheese Cake Factory for dinner first ,it was their favourite place to eat as they had so much variety, after their dinner they went and purchased their movie tickets, they entered the theatre and watched a Disney movie "Cars" it was great, the kids loved it.

While they were heading back to the car as they were walking down the back street, Dillon was talking about the movie they had just seen and how much he liked it, she looked up and there was a guy just in front up ahead of her walking with a male friend, with his back facing her, she thought how it looked like Jake. The next minute she saw Jakes car up further down the street, she kept walking behind them and then the two men stopped at Jake's car, Brooke called out to him "Jake!" he turned towards the sound and looked at Brooke, she could not believe her eyes. Jake threw Rick the car keys and started to walk back up the street.

Brooke continued to walk towards Jake with Lauren and Dillon, Jake also was walking at a faster pace towards Brooke. They met half way down the street well out of earshot so Rick would not be able to hear their conversation and possibly not recognise it was Brooke who Jake was talking to.

Brooke wanted to play it cool "Hi Jake!"

"Hi sweety"

"I thought you were still at the snow skiing?"

"We came back early!"

"Why didn't you call me? and why didn't you say anything when you called me earlier today?"

"I'm sorry, we only just got in, i was going to call you, but we first went and got something to eat" Jake said defensively.

"You know what! I don't believe you!" said Brooke and she walked off towards her car which was further down the road, she was pissed off with him, another lie, another excuse she thought. Well it isn't gonna work this time. he also didn't even tell Rick that Brooke was his girlfriend, she started to think was Jake ashamed of her.

Brooke and the kids got into the car and drove home, tears were streaming down her face, she wiped them away so Lauren and Dillon wouldn't see them.

She arrived home and it was late so she put the children to bed, she gave them a big kiss and hug as she tucked them into bed.

Half an hour later there was a tap at the lounge room window next to the front door, she knew it was Jake, she was so upset, she opened the door. He tried to hug her but she turned her back on him and walked off into the lounge room, he followed her.

"Why did you lie to me about being at the snow?" asked Brooke

"I was at the snow!"

"I'm sorry I don't believe you, not this time, you must think I am some sort of idiot! Every time you lie to me I always catch you out! and this time you've been caught with no excuse that I am going to believe".

"I am not lieing to you Brooke!"

"Then why didn't you tell me when you rung, there is no way you would have not known"

"I did know, but Rick was in the car we were already on our way back, he had received a call from Monica earlier and they started to fight and she said she wanted him to look after Brent that night, she was playing some power trip on him and threated him that if he was not home tonight to take Brent, then she was not going to let him see him as much as he'd like to. So when we got back we quickly went and got something to eat and then he was going to pick up Brent. That's why I couldn't tell you earlier, I don't think Rick really would have appreciated me telling you his drama's with Monica. You have to believe me" Pleaded Jake.

"well I guess I'm gonna have to believe your story, let me just remind you of this, if I find out you are lieing to me and that you have been with Monica I will tell Rick!"

"I am not seeing Monica and I am not lieing to you, I love you"

"Just forget about it, I am tired of this shit! and tired of talking about it" said Brooke

"Sorry babe!"

"Does Rick even know that we are together?" Brooke asked Jake

"Yes he does"

"Yeah, I wonder, I'll never know if he does or doesn't"

"I really am sorry"

Brooke started to feel guilty, Jake had a way of turning things around.

"It's getting late, I just want to go to bed, you can stay up if you want, but I'm going to bed" said Brooke

"No I'll come with you, I'm tired from all the driving, it's been a long day"

They hopped into bed and Jake cuddled into Brooke spooning her and they fell asleep.
