CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN:
The week was very slow, Brooke tried to keep her mind off Jake it was a lot harder than she thought it would be. Whenever she was on her own her mind would wonder off thinking of him. She kept herself occupied in the afternoon with the children as she had them for the week and was having the weekend off. During the day while she was working and driving around to her appointments if she saw a car that was the same as what Jake drove she would look to see if it was him, but it never was. She felt obsessed and was feeling like she was going crazy. She missed him more than ever before especially now when he was back in LA.
Friday night was approaching and Brooke had not made any arrangements with anyone to go out. She preferred to go out on a Friday night rather than a Saturday night, she decided to start making some calls to see what the go was for the weekend, she decided to call Victoria first to see if she was keen to go out but things were going so well with her and Ayden they were going away on a romantic weekend skiing, Brooke was so happy for Victoria, it was about time she found someone decent and nice. Her second call was to Caroline.
"Hello"
"Hi Caroline it's Brooke"
"Hi, how are you feeling?"
"Not bad, look I've got the weekend off, did you feel like comming out on Friday night?"
"I would have loved to, but I have to babysit my nephew, why don't you come over here first and have a drink with me before you go out?" Caroline asked
"Sounds good, what time do you want me to come over?"
"How about 6.30pm"
"Excellent! I will bring some nibblies as well"
"Great! I will see you then....Bye"
"Bye" then Brooke hung up.
Brooke was used to going out on her own and once she got to the "V" Room she would always bump into her "Pub friends".
Friday night arrived and it was a cold wintery night, Brooke wore a pair of designer bootleg jeans with a pair of boots she had just bought that day with a dressy torquoise jacket and a light top to wear underneath the jacket, she didn't want to wear anything too warm as it always got very hot once you were inside the "V" Room.
She caught a taxi to Caronline's place, they drank champagne and ate lots of snacks.
"Why don't you just hang out here tonight" Caroline asked Brooke
"Thannks, but I really want to go out tonight, I've been home all week with Lauren and Dillon and I need to get out".
"Fair enough, just be careful, seeing that your going on your own"
"I will, you know me once I'm out I always bump into someone I know" with that Brooke got her cellphone out and called a taxi, it was already 10.00pm and she didn't want to get to the "V" Room too late. The taxi arrived fifteen minutes later so Brooke gathered her things up and said goodbye and hoped in the taxi.
"Don't forget to text me when you get home, so I know you are safe" Caroline asked Brooke as she closed the taxi door.
"I will, thanks for your company and drinks" Brooke waved to Caroline as the taxi pulled away from the curb and headed off down the road.
The taxi pulled up outside the "V" Room, Brooke paid the driver and walked straight inside, she walked over to the bar and ordered herself a vodka lime and soda and then strolled over towards the edge of the dance floor, she did a quick scan of the room to see if there was anyone she knew and sure enough there was the usual crowd so she walked over to them. They chatted and drank and danced, Brooke was getting a little drunk and she kept looking around the room in hope to see Jake incase he was out, but he never came. Brooke decided to go home she wasn't having as much fun as she thought she would, she had had enough and was getting teary eyed. While she was out the front of the "V" Room trying to get a taxi she did the one thing she wouldn't have done if she was sober and she reached into her handbag and pulled out her cellphone and started to dial Jake's number it was 1.00am in the morning but that didn't phase Brooke at all. The phone rung several times and then she heard Jake's groggy voice answer.
"Hello"
"Hi, it's me Brooke, did I wake you?"
"Yeah, but that's okay. What's wrong?" Jake asked with sincerety in his voice.
"I.....miss.......you.........." Brooke was trying to speak but her sadness and loneliness took over and she was crying her heart out. "Can I come over?"
"Sure, I'll see you soon" then Jake hung up.
Brooke waited a few more minutes as she walked along the street trying to get a taxi and finally she managed to get one. She directed the taxi driver to Jake's house once she got closer to his house, the taxi pulled up in the street, she paid him the fair and got out.
It was dark walking down the side of the first house and a little muddy due to the wet and cold weather. She finally reached Jake's front door he had turned the porch light on for her, she tapped on the door. Jake answered the door a few seconds later, Brooke fell into Jake's arms and sobbed he held her in his arms and kissed her tenderly on her forhead as he stroked the back of her hair and he was consolling her until she stopped sobbing.
"I want you back Jake, I don't want to be apart from you, my heart is just not ready to say goodbye just yet" as she looked up into his eyes. "I love you soo much and have missed you so"
"I have missed you too, and I love you too" Jake replied
"Do you think we could start again and put all this rubbish behind us?" Brooke asked Jake
"I think we can"
Brooke was happy to hear those words and she was prepared to put all the hurt Jake had caused and put it aside and start anew. She already felt peace within herself this was where her heart belonged and was staying
