Chapter Thirteen

CHAPTER THIRTEEN:

The children were picked up on Sunday at 1.00pm by their father. Brooke would have to pick them up Tuesday afternoon from school.

Brooke felt free again as she waved them goodbye, she went back inside to start getting ready for their afternoon out at Triple 888, once again she put the music on as it was a ritual whenever she was getting ready to go out she loved playing her favourite CD's. This time she put on "Just like Jesse James" by Cher it was blaring through the house followed by some Stevie Nicks music. The girls were spraying on their fake tan "the instant tan in a can spray", "thank god for that". They were doing their hair, the blow dryers made the bathrooms feel like a sauna as it was a very hot summers day. Once they were ready they called a taxi and down to Santa Monica Beach they went.

Caroline decided not to go out with them as she was having her mum over for dinner that night. On the way the girls were pciking up another single long time girlfriend of theirs named Victoria, she also had blonde hair just past her shoulders, she had a very athletic body and was extremely tanned Victoria was always down the beach, very much involved in beach awareness and surf rescue. Victoria was a very chatty young lady in her early thirties, sometimes you can find yourself not being able to get a word in as she loved to talk. She too had been in a relationship for three years and it turned out he was cheating on Victoria with the secretary at his work, she only found out by going to a clarevoyent who read tarot cards and told her he was cheating, Victoria did not beleive this but it got the better of her when she got home, it was brewing in her mind as she had a couple of drinks and then she came out with it and told Jason she knew about his infidelity, then he confessed. However she did not know it was with the Secretary at work until he told her. They stopped outside Victoria's house and the taxi tooted its horn, Brooke decided to jump out and ring the doorbell just incase Victoria didn't hear the horn. Victoria was famous for not being ready on time, she answered the door "I'll be out in a second".

Brooke hopped back in the taxi, "She won't be long driver"

A few seconds later Victoria jumped in the taxi. "Hi guys, sorry I took so long"

"That's cool" said Crystal

Once outside Triple 888 the girls paid the taxi and got out, there wasn't a line up yet but usually any later than 3.30pm and the line is unbeleivable, it doesn't matter who you know whether it is the bounces or manager they will not let you jump the que, unless you are a member. The girls headed to the bar and decided to get a bottle of champagne to start off the afternoon. The band had only just started playing. They saw their "pub mates" sitting over at a table near the dance floor. They went up to them and started talking, Brooke mentioned to one of the girls in the group named Cathy how she was kind of seeing a guy and he was playing in a band a JC's.

"You should go over and see him" said Cathy

"No, he doesn't want me to, he says he's too shy"

"Well I am going to go over there" said Cathy as she knew a friend of Jakes "Robert" was his name, she had been casually seeing him for about two months and knew he would certainly be over there in the crowd watching Jake play. So off she went to goo look and see. "I'll be back soon!"

Victoria had not been updated with Brooke's love life as they had not seen or spoken to each other in several weeks as Victoria had been away. So Brooke and Crystal filled her in.

Cathy came back over from JC's "It's so crowded over there it's a full house, they are not letting anyone else in, but they did let me pop my head in and Jake was their singing away, they sounded great, I don't know why he doesn't want you to see him."

"They were his wishes so I have to respect that, at least I know he's not lieing about playing there". said Brooke

It was starting to become very crowded at Triple 888 and the line up to get in was half way down the street.

A few hours went by it was around 7.30pm and in strolled Jake.

"Oh you're early, that's great, I get to spend more time with you"

"Yeah ! it was so hot up there and crowded, I decided to come over here and besides I wanted to see you".

Time was ticking away it was coming up to closing time as Triple 888 closed at 10.00pm on a Sunday night. Jake was ready to go and so were the girls.

"I can give Victoria a lift home on the way" said Jake

"If you don't mind" replied Victoria

They left Triple 888 and walked up to Jakes car, they dropped off Victoria and then headed to Brooke and Crystal's place.

"Did you want to come in for a while?" Brooke thought she would be polite and ask even though she was getting tired and had to get up extremely early as she had a sales meeting in the office.

"No I'll go home I'm a bit beat, I'll give you a call tomorrow".

She lent over and gave him a kiss goodbye and the girls stumbled up the path and into the house.
