Chapter twenty nine

CHAPTER TWENTY NINE:

It was Thursday afternoon and Brooke was walking back to her car from an appointment she had just been to, it was her last job for the day.  Her cellphone rung she answered the phone she thought it was a potential customer as she didn't recognise the number.

"Brooke speaking can I help you?"

"Hi is this Brooke?" a woman at the other end of the phone asked.

"Yes it is, how can I help you?"

"I was wandering do you know Jake?"

"Yes, I'm his girlfriend, why?" Brooke replied, the first thing to run through her head was Jake had been hurt.

"I found your name and number in his cellphone, he had left it with me so I could call him", the lady said

"Who are your?"

"I am Monica, Jake's girlfriend"

"That's impossible I'm his girlfriend, I have been with him for over twelve months" Brooke's legs collapsed from under her and she fell against her car, she stood motionless in deep shock when the revelation had finally arrive and confirmed that she was dating a cheating lying son of a bitch.

"Is this some sort of a sick joke!" sobbed Brooke down the phone.

"No it's true, Jake gave me a phone to use so I could call him, I looked through his phone, he must have thought he had deleted your number from the phone card but it was in the memory of his phone, I thought he was cheating on me that is why I went through his cellphone.  This was his spare one, he gives it to me whenever he goes away so I don't have to pay for any calls"

"I can't believe it, I just can't believe it.  You know his away at the moment don't you?"  Brooke asked Monica.

"Yes I know his away"

"Did he go to the UK?" Brooke asked

"Yes, to see his Dad"

"He told me he was going to Taipei for business, but I caught him out the other night, I knew he was in the UK, he doesn't know that I know"

"Can I come and see you?" Monica asked

"Definately, when and where?"

"How about this afternoon, I can come over to your place after work if that's okay" asked Monica

Brooke was a little hesitate but then agreed.

"I don't have any ill feelings towards you Monica, it's Jake, his the one that's been dishonest and playing us both"

"I don't either, we both didn't know about each other" said Monica

Brooke agreed and gave Monica her home address and Monica was going to be at her house at 5.00pm.  Brooke hung up the phone and just stood beside her car with a blank look on her face, tears were streaming down her face and she was shaking like a leaf.  She managed to open the car door and fell into the drivers seat all her fears had finally come true.  How stupid she felt, she was sick to her stomach, she always thought there was something going on but deep in her heart she didn't ever want to find out, she was too fragile and to now have her heart broken by a man she had trusted and built so much trust in.  She started the engine of the car and a song on the radio came on "Cold hearted snake" by Paula Abdul that was definately what Jake was.  She drove home and waited for Monica to arrive.
