Chapter 30--Soul & Maka

Soul's Point of View

We were home again, lying on the couch. Maka was in my arms, snuggled into my chest and sleeping. This has to be the first time she's been able to sleep in awhile. So I just sit and look at her. Thinking about the events of the past few days; Kidd trying to make a move on my Maka, Maka's black blood getting the best of her, what we did in Stein's lab room...--I blush, which is very unlike me, what the hell? How am I supposed to be the 'cool guy' if I blush? I shake the thought away and look down at Maka's sleeping form again, smiling softly.

My mind wanders again to the events of before, settling on Kidd. Why did he have to do that? Why did he have to kiss her? I shift in my seat, wanting to go to him and confront him on everything. The kiss, the hit, the lie. Why was he being this way. Couldn't he see how happy Maka and I are together? Doesn't he see that Crona obviously has a thing for him?--I needed to ship this, sorry, guys!--And what about Liz? She has a thing for him, too, he has his pick of anyone and he chooses the girl that's already taken?

Maka wriggles in her sleep, and her eyes flutter open. They immediately meet mine and the content smile on her face melts into a thin line. "What's wrong, Soul?"

"Nothing," I say, truly meaning it. "Just thinking about Kidd."

"Why?" She resituates herself so she is sitting beside me.

"We were friends before this whole think, and I either have to sort this out or throw a friendship away." She nods in understanding as I speak.

"That makes sense," she whispers. "Go do whatever you have to," she smiles, softly and kisses my cheek.

"Thank you," I smile, caressing her cheek and touching my lips to hers.

I stand, slowly, walking toward the door. "Why don't you invite the rest of the gang over tonight? We never got a chance to finish that sleepover."

At this she looks at me questioningly, "Are you sure you want that, Soul?"

"Yeah," I smile. "It'll be great."

Another chapter finished, I know it's been a couple weeks, but if you knew me you would understand why. I should be able to update more often in the next couple weeks providing I find inspiration.

Sidenote: if there are obvious typos or grammatical errors do not point them out. I wrote this on a plane at midnight. Not the best, I know. Still feel like I'm moving, spending a week on a boat then getting on a plane is not a fun time. Despite what anyone says.
