Soul's Point of View
----------
Maka and I are finally returning to class today, it's the first time since the Calypso incident a week ago. Though Maka stayed in the Despensory, we hadn't been anywhere else in the academy for what seems like forever. It looked different somehow, and I wonder idly if Maka feels the same way.
We walk hand in hand--I've been saying 'we' a lot lately, so uncool--to the perfectly symmetrical DWMA steps. Kidd spots us and waves, flanking either side of him are his perfectly unsymmetrical, twin-sister weapons.
"Hey, guys!" Patti squeals.
"It's been awhile," Kidd speaks serenely, "Maka, how are you feeling?"
"Better," she says, "Glad to be awake again."
"I'm sure everyone feels that way," Kidd smiles softly.
"Some of us more than others, right, Soul?" Patty giggles, elbowing me in the side.
"Shut up, Patty!" Liz shushes her, she smiles at us apologetically. While I feel my cheeks warm, I smile at Maka, letting them know I don't mind.
Her grin in return, reminds me why I love her so.
"Let's leave them alone," Kidd suggests, I hear an edge in his voice. What could that be?
My brow furrows, but Maka shrugs as they walk away. "That was weird," she says.
We climb the steps to the door and Stein greets us, "Nice to see you both again," his grin is telling. He knew this would happen, and I curse him for being right.
"Thank you for helping us, Stein," Maka says, cheerfully, oblivious to his hints.
"Oh, no, Maka," he grins wider. The cigarette nearly falling from his mouth, but I know it won't. "Thank you."
She looks at me questioningly, stupidity does not become her, I just shake my head. She shrugs it off. "Shall we get training?"
It was my turn to grin.

Maka's Point of View
----------
I hold Soul in my hands, facing the training room, it was daunting for the first time since I came to DWMA.
"Maka," Soul says gently, "Are you ready?"
I nod, "Right, just give me a minute."
"Take your time," he whispers.
I push open the heavy door, the room itself is empty except for the mirror in the center. It was a new development Lord Death had thought up, we call him when we're ready to start training and he materializes what he thinks we can handle. It's perfect because he has the ability to watch our progress and give us more if he feels we're ready.
I walk slowly to the center of the room, reach my hand up to the cool glass, and dial Lord Death.
"Yo, yo! Sup?" He answers cheerfully.
"Lord Death," I greet with a nod. "We're ready."
"Are you?" He asks with a shrug, "Let's get started."
I turn away from the mirror, holding Soul tighter in my hands, my knuckles are white with nerves. But I can do this...
Lord Death goes easy at first, giving us one target, one bad soul. It's Jeff the Ripper, Soul's previous 99th soul before he ate Blair's causing us to start all over. I roll my emerald eyes and start toward him, I choose not to speak, concentrating on the smooth metal in my hands. It makes me stronger, he makes me stronger. I run at the fake soul before us and strike out, though he dodges it, I catch him on the back swing, he still doesn't move fast enough.
Death then fills the room with fake souls, all starting toward us.
"Soul, what do you think?" I think allowed, wondering if he thinks we should try Soul Resonance again.
"Yes, Maka," I can hear his grin. "Let's do this!"
"Right!" I say, "Ready, Soul Resonance!"
Our souls collide together, melting into one another, like they do when we kiss. I blush at the memory and Soul laughs, our souls are stronger together, I can feel it. As our signature move, Witch Hunter, grows in strength, so does my grin. We are ready.
I slam the handle on the floor to use the momentum to shoot myself into the center of the crowd. As the move is finished, a wave of our soul energy emanates through the training room. And behind me, I hear the mirror shatter.
