The three teens all turn toward me, surprised that I was standing there.
"Atlantia! How did you find us?" Scott says, surprised with a hint of worry behind it.
"I followed you, Scott. How else do you think I did it?" I say, "Now, why did you think it was a good idea to kidnap Jackson?"
"He's the kanima. We can't have him killing any more people." Stiles protests.
"Jackson can't control himself because the kanima has a master. Find the master, and you can help Jackson." I say.
"Master? I thought the kanima sought a friend." Allison said, confused. I raise an eyebrow at her,
"Where did you hear that?" I ask.
"Ms. Morell translated some of the beastiary, and she said it read that the kanima sought a friend," Allison says.
"Well, she translated wrong. Kanima seeks a master." I say before glancing at the van, "Jackson shouldn't be locked up even though he has killed people. He is unknowingly being controlled by his master."
"You going to let him go?" Stiles asks as Scott steps in front of the transport vehicle.
"I want to, but I can't. The Fates won't allow me." I say.
"The Fates?" Stiles questions.
"Picture three old ladies who literally knit your life story." I say, "And at any moment then can cut the string and you die. That is the Fates. They like me, but they have repeatedly warned me not to interfere with certain events, and apparently, this is one of them. I have to let you decide what to do with him unless I want to die. So, I'm just going to say; this is a bad idea. Locking him up even if you think you are doing the right thing is wrong. Finding his master is the better plan." Before I leave, I decide to also add, "I'll translate the bestiary for you and give you some of my books if you want to learn about the kanima." With that, I fade into the shadows, knowing I couldn't do anything else since they were obviously not budging on letting Jackson go. I know what they were doing, but a police transport van was not going to stop the Kanima if his master calls him.
Anyway, I spent the evening trying to figure out who the Kanima's master was, and at first, I was thinking Danny since Jackson, and he are best friends, but he was attacked the other night, so he can't be it. Unfortunately, that meant I had no idea who it could be, so that led to me looking into the future the following morning, trying to see who the Kanima was, but just as I found the right vision to see Jackson's master, I was yanked out of my vision by the three old ladies who literally stitch together everyone's lives.
"It's been a while." I say bitterly, staring at the Fates, "The last time you spoke to me was just after I killed Tartarus and locked myself in the camps to mourn."
"We've apologized multiple times for the death of your family," Clothio says, staring at me with no emotion in her voice like always.
"It had to happen so you could be on the right path." Lachesis continues.
"But the others must also stay on the right path," Atropos says.
"So, like always you are preventing me from saving someone's life, right?" I scoff, leaning on my kitchen island, "Why did you push me toward Beacon Hill? These wolves are strong enough to handle a lot of what is coming for them so why am I here."
"For your happiness." The Fates say together before fading away. I sigh letting my head fall into my hands rubbing my head gently with the palms of my hand. The Fates' visit had rattled me since even if they never share any information, a visit from them is never good. The visit had rattled me so much that I didn't even pay attention that someone had entered my home. I was lucky that I had the spell surrounding my house because if it was someone I didn't trust, then I would probably be dead.
